Ollie Dawkins Obituary

Ollie Mae Dawkins
July 6, 1945 - April 21, 2021
Kennewick , Washington - Our beloved Ollie passed away suddenly April 21, 2021 at the age of 75. Ollie was born in Newellton Louisiana to Rubye Jones. She graduated from Tenanas High School class of 1964 and continued her education at Grambling State University where she received her Master's Degree. She moved to the Tri-Cities and worked for several companies at the Hanford area including Rockwell Westinghouse, Battelle, IT Corp, and retired from TestAmerica.
She married John Dawkins in 1975 and she spent 5 year in Riyadh Saudi Arabia while he served in the United States Air Force and she worked as a document control specialist. While she never had children of her own she loved to educate and share knowledge with kids and she was able to fulfill that by working at Highlands Middle School with the Life Skills Students.
Ollie enjoyed gardening and planting flowers in her yard. She was always sharing veggies from her garden to neighbors and friends. Ollie was kind hearted and generous and consistently donated to charities and families in need. She will be remembered for her tough exterior and her gentle giving heart.
She is survived by her brother Willie (Dick) Jones, nieces Sabrina (Manuel) Esparza, Chandra Fields and Melissa Jones Hardeman of Chicago IL, nephews Derick (Andrea) Jones, Las Vegas NV, Marcus Jones, Spokane WA and great nieces Alyssia Esparza, Toluca Lake, CA and Ashley Hardeman Houston TX.
She is preceded in death by her mother Rubye Jones, sister Betty Jean Jones and brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Betty Avery Jones and brother Frederick Jones.

It's been 13+ years since I've seen Ollie, but I will never forget her loving smile, kind voice and her love of her Chow Lunker!
Some people stick in your memories poorly, others stay in your heart forever!

Hug Lunker for me!

Ollie,

I never had even thought a day like this would happen. You family did an awesome job on the service. There was not a dry eye there, including mine. I'm sure you were surprised by the large turn out of family, friends, co-workers, and people that just crossed paths with you. We will meet again. Until then, so long ...

Ollie was a wonderful, smart and witty lady who was a delight to work with and to be able to call my friend. I will love and miss her until we meet again in the Lords court yard.
