RICHARD GUIER Obituary

Richard Allen Guier was born in Portland, OR, on July 30th, 1965, and departed from this world, into eternal life with Jesus on June 29th, 2012.

Rick's presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He touched many lives and was always known as being a fair and honorable man. Rick had such a loving and giving heart. He worked for his father's company, Fresh Pak, which was a packing plant for Walla Walla Sweets, and then went on to open P3M Sports, which was a card and memorabilia shop in Kennewick, WA. When he closed those doors he went back into agriculture and worked for Stemilt Growers and Monson Ranches as a manager for the storage rooms.

Rick enjoyed this life to the fullest and never let anything hold him back in life from doing the things he loved which included but is not limited to, collecting sports cards and autographed memorabilia, building model race cars, go kart racing, golfing, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, attending Hockey, Football and Baseball games, playing poker, Nascar and so much more.

Rick had a huge love in life for Richard Petty and racing cars. From 1983 till 1992, you could find him at Tri-City Raceway or other surrounding racetracks every Saturday racing to get to that checkered flag. After the last year of driving he stayed a part of the racing world as a crewmember on his friends tour car for a few years. Through his racing career, Rick got the chance to take a cruise with Richard Petty and his family and play around on the Daytona Raceway and then from there head over to the Nascar track in Australia.

That was the highlight of Rick's life until his son Austin was born. Austin was his miracle come true and he then lived every day of his life for his son. He enjoyed taking him to sporting events and passing down his hobbies and love of life to Austin. Rick helped coach his son's T-ball team and would be at every wrestling match that Austin had. Every moment with his son was important and precious.

In the weeks leading up to Rick's passing, many friends and his loving family surrounded him. But it was just so fitting that in his last moments, he was with his son, who was Rick's world. His parents, Jack and Suzan Guier as well as both sets of Grandparents and his favorite dog Louie precede Rick in death.

Rick is survived by His son, Austin Richard Guier; his loving dog Sissy; his Brothers, Jeff G. Guier, Jack A. Guier and his Sister, Kira S. Palm; his Nieces and Nephews, Aunts and Uncles and many Cousins.

On July 7th an honorary lap was driven around the Yakima Speedway in memory of Rick Guier. Rick's racecar number, 43, was placed on his friend's car to race on one more time. While friends and family gathered in the stands to remember this great man who will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held for Rick at Crossview Community Church, 540 North Colorado Street, Kennewick, WA 99336, (which is located behind the Applebee's in Kennewick) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th, 2012.

Rick will be placed to rest at Desert Lawn Memorial on Union St. in Kennewick.

If Rick touched your life, we invite you to come celebrate his.
