Ronald Hjaltalin Obituary
September 17, 1931 - May 19, 2022
Pasco, Washington - After 90 years of a well lived and productive life, Ronald Hjaltalin, died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes with his family nearby.
Ron was born in Bellingham, Washington, to Sig and Wilma Hjaltalin. He was the youngest of four, which included sister, Geraldine (O'Brien); and brothers; Bill and Wayne. Ron attended and graduated high school in Bellingham in 1949. He had fond memories of family and friends from his years in Bellingham.
In November 1951, Ron married Joan Lockhart and they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. They started their married life in Ventura, CA, where Ron served in the United States Navy.
Ron studied Engineering at Western Washington University and went on to have a long career in asphalt paving and road construction.
Ron and Jo eventually made their home in Pasco, WA. Ron and Jo are parents to three children; John Hjaltalin, Polly (Luis) Frisby, and Karen (Craig) Walton. They are proud grandparents to Sam Palmer, Tyler Hjaltalin, Eric Hjaltalin, Kelci Frisby, Samantha Walton, and Camden Frisby.
Ron enjoyed patriotic music, Louis L'Amour paperbacks, and restoring old cars. Ron loved his country and his family. He had a quiet, but sincere faith in God, prayer, and the assurance of eternal life through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A man of few words, Dad would leave us all with this advice: "keep it under 100" and "on to the next".
Graveside Service will be held June 4, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Gardens, Richland, WA .

We are very saddened by the passing of Ron. We just returned from a trip and found out that Ron had passed. Ron and I worked closely together at American Rock Products. He was one of the people who made our success a reality. He was a good man and a good friend. RIP my friend.

Ron was a thoughtful brother-in-law who was always there for us as we visited over the years. From high school days through college at Western and later as he enrolled at the University of Washington and lived near us in North Seattle we always enjoyed socializing. After they moved to central Washington we didn't see one another as much but still communicated and visited as often as possible. It was a rich and rewarding relationship. Thanks for the memories.
