Shirley Peterson Obituary

Shirley Peterson (Hagan), 88, passed away peacefully and went to be with her heavenly Father on September 4th, 2025.

Born in Pasco, Washington, to the late Olive McCoy and Floyd Hagan. It was in her hometown where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Robert Peterson (deceased), a love story that would span over 63 years. Their marriage was a true partnership, built on kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were each other's best friend and greatest blessing, and together, they created a home where everyone felt welcome and loved.

Shirley attended Pasco High School and graduated in 1955, where she enjoyed being a Majorette and participated in many school activities. She made wonderful friends and memories, including her lifelong friendships with four childhood friends - Beverly, Gail, Darlene, and Jackie. Their bond remained strong through every chapter of life.

One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother and the time she spent with her grandchildren Natalie Peterson; Desiree Hoge; Cody Hoge, his wife Stacia and their sons, Linkin and Halen. Nothing brought a brighter smile to Shirley's face than when she saw and hugged her sweet great-grandsons.

Family and friendships were the heart of Shirley's life. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Kara Hoge, her husband Erv Hoge, and was reunited in death with her beloved daughter, Denice. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Ronald Hagan, and his wife, Corrine, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Carol Hutton.

In addition to her devotion to her family, for many years Shirley enjoyed playing bridge with her good friends, especially her dear friend Ruth who faithfully checked in on her and kept in touch with her over the years.

Shirley thoroughly enjoyed her work over the years. She spent a meaningful part of her career as a Franklin County Deputy Clerk, where she worked for her good friend Beverly Finke until retirement. Prior to that, she was employed at Bob Rhodes Heating and Air Conditioning, a role she also took pleasure in.

She loved decorating her home for holidays, especially for Christmas. Her passion for gardening brought beauty to every corner of her yard. She also passed down her love of cooking and baking to her granddaughter Desiree. The two spent many happy hours in the kitchen together. Many memories were made with family and friends around the table – sharing meals, playing card games, and enjoying each other's company.

Her final resting place will be at Desert Memorial Park, Vets Urn Garden, Kennewick, with her beloved husband Robert.

Shirley Peterson (the whole family), has been a close family friend my entire life. My mother, Gail (Johnson) Mains grew up with Shirley. A lifetime of memories and love for this dear lady is what my heart holds. Backyard BBQs, game nights, swimming, and listening to Pete (Robert) and my dad compare notes and jokes about their golf games.
"Thanks for the memories."

Shirley and I were classmates for many Yars until we graduated. She always had a smile on her face. Although she didn't hold any offices while in school, she was looked upon by many as a leader.
She was very active in our class reunions over the years. She will be missed by many in our group of classmates.
