Ted Mansfield Obituary

Ted Mansfield

October 6, 2025

Silsbee, Texas - Ted passed away on October 6, 2025. Acute Myeloid Leukemia took him at age 76 in Texas where he and his wife, Peggy, had retired. He was born in Pasco, WA on October 2, 1949, to Owen and Carmel Mansfield, the eighth of nine children. His parents and siblings were his heroes. Being part of a large family was a source of great pride to Ted.

Kennewick was his home for 58 years. Ted attended Kennewick schools, graduating from Kennewick High in 1967, participating in football, basketball and baseball. After college, his career was in education, working as a teacher, elementary principal, and university instructor for 43 years.

He asked that this obituary include his heartfelt thank you and appreciation to his students and the wonderful, dedicated teachers and staff, with whom he had the honor to work. "Tell them they were amazing."

Surviving Ted are his wife Peggy and sons, Ted and Tom (Devan). Also surviving are stepchildren Stacey, Forest (Tracy), and Brooke. He was the grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 4.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters Merelene, Shirley, and Sharon; and brothers Gene, Ray, and Bill. Surviving siblings are brother, Odie, and sister, Becky Wedberg.

On Ted's strict orders there will be no public service. "No funeral, no flowers, no fuss." His ashes will reside with his parents and siblings at Kennewick's Desert Lawn Cemetery in the plot he called Mansfield Acres.
