Wallace Romsos Obituary

Wallace Romsos

August 20, 1934 - April 14, 2024

Richland, Washington - Wallace (Wally) Norman Romsos, affectionately known as "wal", died in Richland, WA on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the age of 89.

Wally was born in Cameron, WI on August 20, 1934 to Marie (Winkler) and Ole Martin Romsos. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1952 and attended Dunwoody Memorial Institute in Minneapolis, MN. In 1954, he moved to Richland, WA and went to work for General Electric as an instrument technician. He worked for many different companies during his career, ultimately retiring from Energy Northwest in 1994 as a non-degreed Engineer. A tinkerer at heart, he continued to challenge himself with little projects around the house and took special pride in finding a use for something that others might have tossed away.

He married his high school sweetheart Carol Immerfall on May 27, 1955 in Richland Lutheran Church. Their faith was strong, and they remained lifelong, active church members.

Wally had many outside interests and hobbies, but his favorite pastime was FISHING. He particularly enjoyed fly fishing and spent many happy hours casting in the Columbia and Walla Walla Rivers.

Wally is survived by his daughter Sheryl (Steve) Senyk, granddaughters Kristen (Chris) Myers, Erika (Ian Hare) Senyk, great-grandson Camden Myers, brother Donald (Claudia) Romsos, sister-in-laws Jean Romsos, Nancy (Mike) Krantz, Linda Field, brother-in-law Bill Immerfall, and other loved family and friends. Preceded in death by wife Carol, son Michael, parents Marie and Ole Romsos, sister Marie (Robert) Bennett, brother (Robert Romsos), brother-in-law Ron (Jane) Immerfall, sister-in-law Lois Immerfall and brother-in-law Ken Field.

Wally was loved by many for his kindness, honesty, and humble nature. An introvert at heart, he most enjoyed real conversations with good friends. A special thank you to the staff of Richland Lutheran Church, Haven Home Health, Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels, Kadlec Medical Center, and friends and family that provided care and companionship to him over the years. He was very blessed, and he knew it.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Location is Richland Lutheran Church, 901 Van Giesen St., Richland, WA 99354. Wally was a friend at work and lived close to us at home. We would meet them when we were walking. My husband passed 3.5 years ago . Wally sent his regrets. I'm doing the same for his family. It is always a sad time for those left behind. Another wonderful soul gone...
