Prosser Funeral Home
Wilbert 'Will' Rhynard, age 81 of Prosser, went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on March 1, 2007, after a long illness. He was born on June 25, 1925, in Mutual, Oklahoma, to Oliver and Olive Rhynard. He moved to Prosser in 1936 at the age of 11 and never left. Will graduated from Prosser High School in 1943. He met his lifelong sweetheart 'Bea' in high school at a dance. Will served in the Navy during WWII in Guam as an Aviation Machinist's Mate from 1944 to 1946. Will and Bea got married on April 11, 1947, and made their home in Prosser in the house Bea's father built for them.
Will first worked at Sandvig Motors in Kennewick and then went to work at Hall Chevrolet in 1965. Will retired from Hall's after 22 years as parts manager in 1987. He was a faithful member of the Prosser Central Christian Church and served as an elder for many years. He was also a past member of the Prosser Jaycees and Lions Club.
Will and Bea enjoyed going to the 30/70 dances out at the Walnut Grove Grange Hall in Prosser. He also looked forward to the monthly lunch dates with the 'GANG.'
Will was an enthusiastic member of the daily morning coffee dice gambling games at Elfers-Lyon pharmacy and liked going to the senior center to play pinochle. He enjoyed taking the camper and going to the mountains because he loved the fresh air, nature and lots of fishing. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and he always had good stories to tell. Will and his best friend, Bill Jamison, shared lots of adventures growing up. In his younger days he loved playing all sports and as he got older, he loved watching the Mariners and yelling at the TV when they didn't do it right.
Will was reunited in Heaven with his wife of 56 years, Bea. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Laon Rhynard; one sister, Arlene Johnston; and nephews, Butch Johnston, Monty Melville and Mike Rhynard.
He is survived by son, Richard Rhynard and wife April of Prosser; 2 daughters, Alicia and husband Jerry Galliher of Prosser and Linda and husband Stan Owsley of Pasco; five grandchildren, Dusty Galliher and Patrick, Stephen, Rachel and Sara Rhynard; and five nieces and three nephews.
Dad/Grandpa is loved by his kids and grandkids. He was always there to help us out, whether to taxi us everywhere or bail us out of trouble. He will always be our hero and he will be greatly missed. Love you Dad!
