John Diehl Obituary

John "Corky" Diehl, of Tyler Hill, PA, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was 69.

The son of the late John Simon and Marjorie Emma Price Diehl., he was born August 23, 1943, in Callicoon, NY.

John was the president and owner of Diehl Trucking Inc., Tyler Hill, PA. He
started the business in Nov. of 1978. John in his younger days worked on the family farm, for Damascus Township and Callicoon Agway as a truck driver/trainer. He also he hauled milk for Bob Diehl Sr. and Charles Williams.

He was married to Judith S. Swendsen Diehl for 52 years, she survives. He was a member of the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, International Harvester Chapter 36 Club, Pennsylvania Farmers Association, and the American Truck Historical Society.

A family statement reads" John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was his pride and joy, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a quiet, honest, hardworking and humble man. He was very dedicated to his family and his business. He will truly be missed and will always live in our hearts."

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judith S. Swendsen Diehl. Five children Brian J. Diehl Sr. And his wife Cathy of Tyler Hill, PA, Debra A. Diehl of Tyler Hill, PA, Steven R. Diehl and his wife Tammi of Damascus, PA, Andrew J. Diehl and his wife Tina of Damascus, PA and Kimberly A. Modrovsky and her husband Michael of Honesdale. Thirteen Grandchildren: Alan M. Diehl and his wife Nicole, Brian J. Diehl Jr, Kami Walter and her husband Michael, Michael Hiller and his wife Marisa, Joseph and Michael Powell, Katie and Kassie Diehl, Marissa and Brett Diehl, Emma and Peter Modrovsky and Colette Graham. Also eleven great grandchildren. Four Sisters: Lois McKaig and her husband Alan, Sylvia Young and her companion Ed Bennett, Mary Fitzgeral and her husband John "Jack", Martha Canfield and her husband Ronald. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. ("Special Brother") Bob Diehl Sr., ("Second Sons") Joel Snyder, Roger Dix and Michael Verderber and other dedicated employees of the Diehl Trucking Family.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from2:00PM to 4:00PM
and 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St.. Narrowsburg,
NY.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday September 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, Damascus, PA.. Rev. Jean Blackie will officiate.

Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery Damascus, Damascus, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 221, Damascus, PA 18415 or the Damascus Township Vol. Ambulance Corp. P.O. Box 63, Damascus, PA 18415.
