To Mrs. Pons, Peter and the entire
Pons Family: We lit a candle at St. Patrick's Cathedral today in memory of Paul and sweet Matthew. Our hearts ache for you. We are warmed, however, by the smiles and sweet photos on your Deli's Facebook page. Such happy lives. You are not alone in your grief. An entire community is with you. May God bless your family.

There are no words. Two angels have left us. My deepest condolences to the entire family. My family and I were so heartbroken when we heard. I have always had nothing but fond memories of Pablito from our childhood at Mt. Carmel, up to early adult life. Although we lost touch throughout the years, I always recalled Pablo's warm smile and caring nature. He was genuinely such a great guy. I pray his family is enlightened with all the love and support they may need to get through these dark times.

We are heartbroken over the passing of Paul and Matthew. May the family find peace knowing they are together in heaven for evermore. We are just customers and did not know the family, however Paul always remembered our names and was so kind and considerate. May God bless.

As one of your first admirers to Arthur Ave Deli, you were always a person that we admired coming from the Bronx, and starting a business that you loved and treated all customers to the very best. You will always be remembered by us.

Your way of treating customers and people in general was heartwarming and that made us feel so comfortable at your business. May your wife, brother, parents accept our sincerest condolences and we will pray that you and your son are in heaven continuing to enjoy each other's love and company

When I first went into the store and Peter & Paul introduced themselves, my response was " like the Apostles " and they laughed. I gave them some advice that day about the shop. I said what ever it is that you are doing, do not ever change it, because the talk of the town was Arthur Avenue, and how great it is. I was a late comer, but everyone I talked to kept saying have you been to the Italian Deli yet. I told them that day, they could never afford the free advertising that is going around town. And guess what, I just said those very words to Paul last Thursday. I told him after all this time, I still have people telling me about this great place in Honesdale. He was telling me about the new hours and how great it is going to be for him & Peter. When I was going through Chemo and did not want food, I always could eat a Ham & Cheese with the inside of the bread removed. I would walk into the store and Paul would say Hello Sweetie, how are you feeling. Do you want Ham & Cheese with the inside of the bread taken out, and I would laugh. There are no words that can be said to really express to all of the family, because this is beyond words of sadness and sorrow. So what I will say to all of you is this. We were all blessed to have been so fortunate to have known such a wonderful human being.I just pray that with time all of you can get past the loss, and be filled with the memories of his smiling face. His time here was cut short, but he made such an impact on the ones who were blessed to have known him. May the burden of grief pass quickly for all of you. Sincerely, Cindy Beach
