Stephen Treat Obituary

Dr. Stephen Treat, age 90, resident of Lehigh Acres, FL, formerly of Hawley, PA passed away quietly of natural causes at the Lehigh Acres Hospice on December 10, 2013.

Born on April 11, 1923 in Lakeville, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Treat of Lakeville. Dr. Treat retired as the Chief Clinical Psychologist at the Farview State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, Waymart, PA.

Stephen was an active pilot for 67 years.

His aviation career began as a WWII Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After the war he purchased a WW II surplus PT-19 trainer, and later a 1947 Aeronca Chief which he flew for most of his life and well into his late 80's. He was a familiar site in the PA and FLA region at local aviation events.

Dr. Treat also designed and test flew his own experimental aircraft as an early member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

Stephen was born to fly; an incredible pilot, who loved flying, especially in his little "Chief."

He was a bit of a free spirit & daredevil who enjoyed life. He loved new adventures by flying into the unknown & landing his little plane wherever curiosity took him.

He also had a talent for putting pen to paper and enjoyed writing short stories especially as he got older, he was an avid swimmer, loved playing the piano and enjoyed fishing especially as a young boy.

Dr. Treat is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Christine Treat, a daughter Penny S. Treat, sons Jeffrey S. Treat, and Jamie S. Treat all by previous marriage; a brother Robert Treat, and a sister Jane T. Cable, and three grandsons, Jordan, Matthew and Colten.

Dr. Treat was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Treat, and a brother Harold Treat.

At the request of Dr. Treat, there will be no services of his passing.
