THEOPHILUS DWAYNE INSLEE
Services for Theophilus Dwayne Inslee were Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Asbury United Methodist Church of Ada at 1:00 pm.
Theophilus passed away July 30, 2024 at his home in Ada, OK surrounded by his family. He was 96 years old.
Theop was born in Isabel, Kansas on December 22, 1927 on the family wheat farm. He graduated from Isabel High School in May of 1945. He was drafted to the military in December 1945 and joined the Army during World War II. He trained as a Field Medic and served at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California until he was honorably discharged in November 1947.
After his service in the Army, he attended Pratt Junior College where he received an associate's degree in 1961, Emporia Kansas State University where he received his bachelor's degree in 1962, and a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1964.
In 1965, he went to work for the United States Department of Interior, US Fish and Wildlife service as a Developmental Biologist and Fishery Pathologist. He was stationed at Cedar Bluff National Fish Hatchery in Ellis, Kansas, Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery in Reagan, Oklahoma, and the Dexter National Fish Hatchery in Dexter, New Mexico. He retired in 1985. He then went on to start his own business of raising largemouth bass, ornamental koi and grass carp fish at the Inslee Fish Farm. Theop's sons, daughter, son-in-law, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren would all help out at the Fish Farm.
He married Phyllis Mae Mullikin on May 8, 1949 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They celebrated 73 years of marriage before her passing in July 2022. They had 4 children.
Theop is survived by his four children and their spouses: Glenn Eugene Inslee and wife Donna, Phillip Dwayne Inslee and wife Hazel, Donald William Inslee and wife Sherry, and Susan Jane Inslee Crook and husband Max, and honorary children Ricky Scott, Lynne Crouch Woodrell and Ruth Ann Sparks. By his grandchildren: Crystal Dawn Inslee de Otero and husband Ali, William Andrew Inslee, Levi
Theophilus Inslee, Jake Dwayne Inslee, Tammy Crawford Inslee and husband Ralph, Michael Crawford Inslee, Megan Rae Crook, Emily Ann Crook Anderson and husband Justin, Dylan Cole Crook, Caleb Matthew Crook, and his honorary grandchildren Joey House, Christin White, Tobi Perry and Jamie Pittman. By his Great Grandchildren: Ivan Rafael Otero Inslee, Glenn Archer Otero Inslee, Andrew Sawyer Otero Inslee, Ryan Cordel Inslee, Lexie Inslee, Jakelynn Inslee, Micah Inslee, Mackenzie Inslee, Brittany Burnes, Sheridan Burnes, Robert Walling, Sloan Anderson, and his honorary great grandchild Baylee Johnson. By his Great Great Grandchildren: Felicity Burnes and Owen Clayton James Leon. And by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Mae Mullikin Inslee, his parents, William Andrew and Myreen Artine Deistler Inslee, by his siblings, Theda Fayne Inslee Ashley and husband Cotton, Victor Dean Inslee and wife Stephanie, Beverly Jean Inslee Hewitt and husband Dean, Shirley Willene Inslee McGee and husband Joe, and his grandson, Luke Thomas Inslee.
Honorary Pallbearers were Caleb Crook, Dylan Crook, Jake Inslee, Levi Inslee, Drew Inslee, Michael Inslee, Ryan Inslee, Emily Anderson, Megan Crook, Crystal Inslee Otero, Lexie Inslee and Tammy Inslee.
