Austin G. Devine TROY - Austin G. Devine, 56, formerly of Pawling Avenue died suddenly on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Austin was born on March 26, 1959 in Belfast, Ireland, he came to the United States at 18 years old in 1977. He was the son of the late James and Delia Kiernan Devine. Austin worked for over thirty years as a union painter with the Painters Union Local 201, where he held several positions including President, Organizer and Apprenticeship Director. He was a member of the Irish Northern Aid Committee, The Ancient Order of Hibernians and The Emerald Athletic Club. Austin was an ardent Irish Nationalist. Upon hearing that union leader Kate Mullaney was buried in an unmarked grave, he helped raise the necessary money to put a celtic cross and two marble benches on her grave. Austin is survived by his daughters Shaina Kern (Chris) of Wynantskill and Kerry Francois (Frantz) of Troy, his three grandchildren Liam Kern, Lenna Kern and Winnie Francois, his siblings Jim Devine (Bonnie) of Hoosick Falls, Columb Devine (Diane) of Stephentown, Helen Cooper (Harry) of Belfast, Gertie Magee (Pat) of Belfast and Kieran Devine (Joan) of Belfast, his former wife Nancy Lee and his sister in law Marion Devine. Austin was predeceased by his brother John Devine. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer at 7:00 pm at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
