Barbara Cassella Obituary

Barbara Ann CassellaCLIFTON PARK - Barbara Ann Cassella, 75, of Hancock Way died Tuesday June 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn Reilly Herran. Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Russel Sage College, a Master's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from SUNY Albany.Barbara was employed at Shaker High School for 5 years before retiring 16 years ago. Prior to that she had taught at CCHS, St. Augustine's School in Lansingburgh and Averill Park Middle School. She was a member of NYSUT. A communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh she had served as a Eucharistic Minister there and had been active in St. Augustine's School Mother's Club while he sons were students at the school. She was an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in Latham.She is the loving wife of Joseph L. Cassella and devoted mother of Anthony Michael Cassella of Clifton Park and Dominic Joseph Cassella (Elisabeth) of Niskayuna. She is the sister of Matthew Heeran (Peggy) of North Greenbush and proud grandmother of Joseph D. and Anthony G. Cassella. Several nieces, nephews and her cousin Gerald Spratt also survive.Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:15 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at noon at St. Augustine's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 pm.Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd St. New York, NY 10128-6804.To express your sympathy or share a treasured memory, visit: Brendesefuneralhome.com http://www.lastingmemories.com/barbara-ann-cassella

My condolences to the Cassella Family. Barb and I attended both CCHS and Russell Sage together. She was one of the bridesmaids in my wedding. Barb had a wonderful sense of humor. Wish I could have lived closer so I could have seen her more often.
