Bette Hotaling

Bette Hotaling WATERVLIET – Bette Yannick Hotaling, 62, died peacefully Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Albany Medical Center with her family at her side. Born in Troy on November 8, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Raymond F. and Marion Barna Yannick. Bette was raised and educated in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. She served in the U.S. Army from 1970-71 in Ft. Benning, GA. Bette was employed for over 28 years by the Halayko family at the Schuyler Bakery in Watervliet where she was the head counter person before retiring last month on her birthday, November 8, 2013. Bette knew all her customers by name and always kept the bakery alive with her vibrant personality. She had also worked at the Standard Manufacturing Co. in Troy before going to the bakery. Bette was also a homemaker raising her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew and crochet and did a little hunting in her day. She was the #1 sports fan at all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and never missed a baseball or football game. She is the beloved wife of John W. Hotaling whom she married August 5, 1976, devoted mother of Michael (Lori) Hotaling of Clifton Park, Kristin (Tom) Eury of Howes Cave, Scott (Heather) Wagers of Folsom, CA, Jeff (Valerie) Hotaling of Averill Park and Tiffany O’Neill of Watervliet, adored grandmother of Nicholas, Samantha, Nathen, Gregory, Katherine, Zachary, Jonathan, Reese, Braxton, Danica, Abigail, Emma and Brielle, dear sister of Raymond (Maureen Danaher) Yannick of Melrose, Patricia Curtin of Cohoes, Barbara Yannick of Watervliet and the late Joseph and Evelyn Yannick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. There are no calling hours.
