David Nichols, Obituary
Born in Troy on July 27, 1974, he is the beloved son of Frederick E. Nichols, Sr. of Troy and the late Velma Marcus Nichols, who died September 1, 2012. Raised and educated in Troy, he attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Troy High School.
A lifelong area resident, David enjoyed a career as a machine operator at the Mohawk Paper Co. in Cohoes until his death.
He was a member of the American Pool Association (APA) and loved to play billiards at Kennedy's Tavern and Uncle Sam Lanes, both in Troy. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest joys came from his family, especially his children and the wonderful times with his family at the family camp in Taborton. He was a wonderful son, father, beloved fiancee, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many and will be forever be missed.
Survivors in addition to his father include his beloved fiancee and companion, Jacqueline C. Etman Duval, to whom he was to be married on August 10, 2013; his cherished children, David M. Nichols, Jr. and Kyle D. Nichols of Wynantskill; treasured step-children Kristin L. Duval and Jenna M. LeClair of Pittstown; his special siblings, Frederick E. Nichols, Jr., Michael A. Nichols, Katherine (Edward) Duffy-Darmetko, and Joseph D. (Kristin) Nichols, Sr., all of Troy, Andrew J. (Shona) Nichols of Brunswick, Daniel R. (Wendy) Nichols of Clifton Park, and Robert J. (Kindra) of Maplewood. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his two dogs, Koda and Zero.
A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, with Rev. Nick Tebordo of the United Church of Cohoes officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the David M. Nichols, Sr. Memorial Fund to assist his children, c/o Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, NY 12189.
