Donald Waters Obituary

Donald James Waters LATHAM - Donald James Waters died in his home in Latham, NY on Friday, July 28, 2017 following an extended illness. He was 80. Born and educated in Troy, NY, Don was the son of the late Harry J Waters and Doris Shellard Waters and husband to the late Patricia M Brimmer Waters. Don grew up in Troy, NY with best friend Theodore Bielawa, who he remained close with from the third grade. He was a graduate of Troy High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959. Don was employed at Ford Motor Company in Green Island as a Material Handler for 34 years, retiring in 1991 and was Vice President of the UAW Union. He was an active member of St Ambrose Church and a Board Member at Elmwood Hill Cemetery. He was a dedicated Tri-State Area sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Team. He is survived by his daughters, Tanya Suh Waters of New York, NY and Tara Lynn Waters of London, England; his grand-daughter, Tegan Patricia Waters of New York, NY; his brothers, David Waters of Johnsonville, NY, Kenny Waters of Ash Flat, AR and Randy Waters of Poestenkill, NY; his sisters, Marilyn Fane and Linda Young, both of Troy, NY; his aunt, Cheryl Waters of North Greenbush, NY; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 8:15 AM at the funeral home and at 9 AM at St. Ambrose Church 347 Old Loudon Road Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Donald J. Waters to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue Menands, NY 12204 or to St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110. don was my best friend when we served together in the air force we was together from Lackland during basic training, also at the base in Denver he finished first in our class of ammo training i came in third so we got to choose where we would go to serve our time, we chose Germany and was together there stacking bombs for the whole time at Morbach ammo dump, I got to meet up with him again when i found him when i got my Computer an looked for him and others on the net found his address and the wife and i went to see him in N Y, we kept in contact for a few years after that i will miss him, i only have one other that i served with in the air force left that i know of, so long don, see you later when i come home.

I remember Don as a hard worker when I worked at Ford's. Always had a smile on his face. What not to like about Don. So sorry to hear about his passing. He will be missed.

Many fond memories of Don. Was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Adored his daughters, with whom he was so proud! His little angel Tegan was the apple of his eye.
