Mr. Cepiel had a great influence on my life as one of the cross country and track runners he coached from 1970 thru 1973. One thing i always remember him asking me, "Do you want to quit yet?", somehow knowing that would have the opposite effect, making me try even harder. Since then athletics have been a great part of my life and i attribute that to him.

My condolences to the family. I taught with Ed in the Troy City School District and admired him as a teacher, a coach, and, most importantly, as a man. He coached my brother, Ed, who ran cross country and track. My brother often mentioned what a wonderful coach and mentor Ed was. A gentle, sweet man...and a role model for all of us to follow.

My Most Sincere condolences to wife, Lorraine, and the families of Mark, Eric, Michele, know I will keep your father in my prayers. May he R.I.P,
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say, But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain, then you can say to God at night."My day was not in vain."And now I am contented that my life has been worthwhile, knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go. from that body to be free, remember you're not going, you're coming here to me.

Had Mr. Cepiel as a track coach and as a teacher. Impressed by him, but now even more impressed by him as not just the teacher, the coach, but as a man who did a lot for many, and his country. Now a teacher myself at the end of my career, and will be reminded of the impact an educator can make as I teach these last years. Thank you Ed for your lessons and your service!

This man was my hero. He was there for me in my youth. He took me under his wing and showed be that with hard work and dedication you can achieve anything. He molded me into a fine man. He believed in me. He dedicated himself to my goals. He spoke volumes through his dedicated acts as a teacher, coach, mentor and man.
In my high school yearbook he said,
To a fine young man whose dedication went unmatched by anyone I coached in 20 years. You have brought me great joy and pride. May you take what you learned from me and your feats and apply them to your life always.
With extreme sadness I have to say goodbye to him. My eyes are filled with tears as I write this. I owe him so so much. Thank you Coach Cepiel for everything you have given me.
On behalf of all my Blanchet brothers who you so generously dedicated your time and energy, god bless your soul.

My brother, John Gorsky, and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Cepiel family including his brother Donnie and sister Marilyn.
We grew up on Willow Street with Eddie; played lots of baseball in the street until we broke Mr. Sliwa's window (had to graduate to the polo grounds), slid down the "cathill" on cardboard in the winter and ate many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that Mrs. Cepiel (Eleanor) made us for lunch. The last time I saw Eddie was in his dad's barbershop while I was visiting my mom years ago.
We have many wonderful memories of our childhood we shared with Eddie. RIP

My deepest Sympathy goes out to the Cepiel family. Lorraine, and the families of Mark, Eric and Michele. May he R.I.P.
His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away
His journey's just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
This earth is only one
Just think of him as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
That we would know today
How nothing but our sadness,
Can really pass away.
And think of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched,
For nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so much.

As a student at Troy High School I took for granted Mr. Cepiels' background and devotion to us. Looking back, I wish I paid more attention to this man and knew of his accomplishments and dedication to us and his Country. RIP Sir.

My most Sincere Sympathy to the Cepiel Family.
Lorraine and the families of Mark, Eric and Michele. May he R.I.P.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.

Mr. Cepiel was my science teacher in 1972-73 and 1975-6 at Troy High School. He was a great yet relaxed teacher, and made everything clear and interesting. He was very down-to-earth, and greatly respected by his students.

My Condolences to the family and may Coach Cepiel Rest in Peace.
I worked as a sports reporter at The Record and Ed was always willing to give his time to talk about his student-athletes.
Deceased Athletic Director Clem Zotto told me he was amazed at all the time Ed spent with the track and field teams. Clem said he would drive by the school early on a Saturday morning and Ed would be loading the team on the bus for an invitational. Later that night Clem would be driving home from dinner with his wife, some 12 hours later, and Ed would be unpacking the bus.
Coach Cepiel was old school for sure. I will always remember his dedication to the student athletes.

I see a man whom touched so many throughout his life and embodied what a father and husband should be. His dedication to his country, community and family was a continuous gift to us all. It was a blessing to have known him personally and to have enjoyed his time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My most sincere condolences to Lorraine, and families of Mark, Eric and Michele. May he R.I.P. A wonderful neighbor.
SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;Oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,Every restless tossing passed;I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade?Oh, but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on,Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,For I love you dearly still,Try to look beyond earth's shadows,Pray to trust our Father's will.
There is work still waiting for you,So you must not idly stand;Do it now, while life remains,You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,He will gently call you Home;Oh, the rapture of that meeting,Oh, the joy to see you come!
