Esther Dunagan Obituary

Esther Wheland Nielsen Dunagan WEST SAND LAKE - Esther Wheland Nielsen Dunagan, 64, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany after a brief illness. Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Raymond Wheland and Ellen Mohl Wheland and wife of Curtis W. Dunagan. She was raised in West Sand Lake and a graduate of Averill Park High School. After she and Curtis were married, they spent 18 years living in Orlando, Fl where she worked as a Human Resources Executive. In the early 1990's, they returned and currently resided in West Sand Lake. She was a board member and Treasurer of the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Association in West Sand Lake and a member of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee of Christ Church United Methodist on State Street in Troy. Esther enjoyed giving all she could to charities. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her children, Ellen Nielsen, West Sand Lake, and Kevin (Luisa) Dunagan, Castleton On Hudson; her stepchildren, Richard and Michelle Nielsen; her brothers Raymond Wheland, West Sand Lake and Fred Wheland, Inverness, FL; her grandchildren Tiffany LaPlante and Matthew and Kyle Duragan; and her sister-in-law, Susan Long, Deritter, LA. Funeral service will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 1 PM at the Christ Church United Methodist 35 State Street Troy with Rev. Nina Nichols , Pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Esther Dunagan to the Joseph's House 74 Ferry Street Troy, NY 12180.
