Like many, I've come to know Mr. Del Vecchio via THS, class of 79..he was one of my gym teachers and with my time here at RPI I came to know Betty as well..two wonderful people who are now joined back together..later on I would always run into him at Price Chopper and make a point to say hello..this planet will indeed miss him...

Gene DelVechhio was a beloved friend of my parents and my family loved and respected him very much. He was forever kind and understanding, had a wonderful sense of humor and great dignity. I think of him with warmth and affection and extend my sympathies to Jan, Marcie, Brian and family. May God bless you and keep you, Gene.

My thoughts and prayers will be with him & a candle will be lit at Saint Anthony's Church in his memory. He was a great guy and had many good chats with him at Dunkin Donuts & Price Chopper over the last few years. He will be missed by many. RIP Prof Del Vecchio ! Class of 1971

My deepest sympathy at this time for your loss. Gene brightened the life of everyone he touched. I had Gene many many years ago for driver ed and he was coach and friend to my late husband,Jack. I am so thankful I had the good fortune of seeing and speaking with him recently at our 50 year high school reunion. He will be missed.

Coach D,was the best. Playing football,and running track was great under the leadership of Coach D. He always treated me as if i was one of his own kids. I could go to him with any problems that i may have had. It was always great to see him shopping at Price Chopper. He would always say. Looking good champ. Yes he will be missed. Coach D RIP.

My sympathy to the Del Vecchio family. I was a student of coach during summer hockey and I also played hockey against him when I was at LaSalle. Mr. Del Vecchio was a very caring person and was always interested in the many folks he coached. God rest his soul.

Prof was always a gentleman whether it was in the 70's as a great couch or at the YMCA a few months ago. I will always remember "just around the bend men" from bus trips. I only hope you were right and later down our road we meet again.

Most Wednesdays for the past several years we have had the pleasure of seeing Gene. He would arrive with Joe P.to join their group of handsome, happy gentlemen to share breakfast and spend the next few hours talking and laughing. He would be greeted on these days with a roar. They rule the diner on these days. Many customers would stop by to say hello and talk with them, some old students others old friends. Gene was a true gentleman and he will be missed by everyone in the Alexis Diner family. Our sincere condolences to his family.

Prof, I had so many times in your company for over 55 years. First as a hockey player for LSI, a football coach at Cardinal McCloskey playing your teams at THS. Coaching Basketball at THS we would talk every day. Our many trips to meetings, or the YMCA,the rt4 diner. Most of all for the last 3 years I would call to see how you health was. Always you seem so upbeat dispite the number of issues you encounter. Last week you said Robert I am not doing well, and not sure how long I can hang in there. Prof,I will miss taking to you, you were a class act, gentleman and a true friend I will never forget. RIP

I feel truly blessed to have been taught and to have known such a great gentleman. Approachable, dedicated, caring, extremely intelligent and honest are words that I think of when I think of Mr.D Though others will follow and have followed in his position at Troy High School no one will ever come close to being the great person, educator and role model he was. I am honored to have known him and will miss him.
