I was so sad to hear about Fred. He was a wonderful doctor- very smart and thorough. We trained with Bill Huber, our admired instructor, in our flight training together in Albany where Fred excelled and was a resource for many of us. He worked very hard and will not be forgotten. May he now rest in peace.

Wendy we are so sorry for the loss of Fred. We know how much you truly loved each other. We know your heart is breaking & it will take a long time to heal, but take comfort in the knowledge that Fred truly loved & trusted you in his final days to take care of him. Although fate seems cruel & unjust that your time together wasn't nearly as long as it should have been, we have never seen two people so in love & so compatible. I was very sad, as was my Mother to hear of the doctors passing. He was wonderful to my father who lost his battle with kidney disease in January. He really cared and took great care of him. I want to thank him for his kindness. He was the kind of doctor all doctors should strive to be. Thank you doctor and I am so sorry to the family and friends.

It was just this very instance that we found out about Fred's passing. We are both so shocked and filled with great sadness!!
Not only was Fred a great Dr. to Erik, and his amazing flight instructor, but a wonderful neighbor for so many years as our children grew up on Darroch Road together.

Fred will be missed by so many people on so many levels. He was such a strong vibrant man who always played and worked hard. He was a loving father and caring physician. He gave life his all. Dr. Braunstein was a great doctor who treated my mother with such dignity and respect during her battle with cancer. Works can not express how much our family appreciated everything he did for her. Wendy, our thoughts and prayers are with you. When we learned of the passing of Dr. Braunstein, we immediately thought of you and all that you have done for him over the years, and all that he has done for you. You were by his side in the procedure room, and it seems only fitting that you were by his side from day one of his diagnosis, caring for him during the good days and the bad. You never left his side for four months and I know that Dr. B would not have wanted it any other way. You both loved each other more than any two people I have ever met in my lifetime. I will miss him greatly; he was the best Doctor in the world. If it were not for him, I would not be here today. Again, Wendy, we pray for you and yours during this difficult time. Dr. B will be missed by all of those he cared for over the years.

Wendy, I too, went to Jr. High and HS with Fred. We were not friends, nor did we ever say an occasional hello. But I was impressed with his humor and intelligence. Too soon to go. You and yours have my sympathy.

Sixteen years ago you came to my Sons bar mitzzvah at Temple israel. At the time Fred had mentored me in sigmoidoscopies.

I too was in many classes with Fred through junior and high school and my recollections and memories are similar to Thea's although Fred's dad was never my doctor I did know Fred's dad as I worked at the hospital throughout high school and college and he was a quiet yet compassionate man and it appears that Fred followed the same path. Mom, first let me say how badly my heart is breaking for you. You and Fred were soul mates; best friends. Saying he was a great man is a true under statement. But as we begin our journey without him, take comfort in knowing how much you meant to him and how much he trusted you to take care of him over the past few months and trusted you would carry out his wishes to keep him home where he could go peacefully and know you, his love, would never leave his side. You were so strong for him for so long, now let us be strong for you. Your family is here for you, always. We all miss Fred tremendously but we will see him again. To Fred's Family, I grew up in Vineland, attended high school and, I believe, (Memorial J.H.S.) junior high with Fred, too. We were in lots of high school classes together. I also remember his dad, a tall,gentle physician who my own dad really liked. He took care of me when I, as a child, scraped my arm and needed a little medical attention and TLC. Like father like son I see...I just remember Fred as being a slim, tall,blonde teen...quietly funny, with a dry sense of humor...and very clever. It is enjoyable reading about the wonderful, caring physician he became as well as learning of the loving family relationships he has had. After a very bad experience with another,Dr. Braunstein became my doctor and treated me for over 20 years. He was always so patient with me and I still smile when I think of the procedures I had. He knew how anxious I was and would say to the nurse, "heavy on the drugs for this one" He was a wonderful man and a great doctor will be missed.

Dr. Braunstein was a great man and doctor. He treated my mom many years ago and I can still remember him telling us he put off a trip to New Jersey because he couldn't leave my mother over the weekend in that condition and stayed and did the procedure. Also, many nights I would stay by her side in the hospital and more than once he showed up very late at night to talk to us about her condition. She had many more fine years thanks to him. He was brillant and caring - a wonderful man. Please take comfort in knowing he was loved by so many. I pray God grants you the strength to get through this most difficult time. I had the opportunity to do business with Dr. Braunstein years ago as a representative. He was a speaker for my company and I learned a great deal from him at his programs/educational talks. It was with great saddness that we read about the loss of Dr. Braunstein. He was the best doctor in the capital district area. My Mom had him when she was real sick in the hospital, we believe he saved her life. He was the most skilled doctor in his field and we knew that if we had Dr. Braunstein, he would make it right.
