James Suriano Obituary

James C. Suriano Sr. TROY - James C.Suriano Sr., 86, of Troy, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at The Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center in Troy. Jim was born in Troy and was the son of the late Philip and Mary Dexter Suriano. He was the loving husband of Rose Mary Edwards Suriano of Troy, they were married in 1950 and had been married for 65 years. Jim graduated from Troy High School in 1947. He served his country in The US Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a Sergeant when he left the service. Jim had been a foreman for the former Niagara Mohawk Company and was a board member of The Niagara Mohawk Credit Union. He was a member of the Troy Elks lodge #141 and was very proud of being inducted into the Troy Boys Hall of Fame, he was also a member of the IBEW Union and a former member of the American Legion. Jim was very involved with the former St. Mary’s Church in Troy. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, OTB and Saratoga Race Track and spending time with his wife in Clearwater Beach Florida during the winter months. In addition to his wife Rose Mary, Jim is survived by his children Anne Beth (John) Casale of Troy, James C. Suriano Jr. (Lisa) of Troy, Philip Suriano (Donna Prespare) of Troy and Todd A. Suriano (Donna Raymond) of Henderson Nevada. He is also survived by his sister Mary Phyllis Koumjian (the late James). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 step grand children, 2 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren and was pre- deceased by his infant granddaughter. Jim is also survived by 4 nephews and several cousins The funeral service for Jim will be held on Saturday morning at 8:15 am from The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy, and at 9:00 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church in Troy where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4- 8 PM. Entombment at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Troy. Jim’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the entire staff of the 3rd floor at The Eddy Heritage House for the wonderful care that was given to Jim during his five and a half years stay.
