Joseph Slaver Obituary

Joseph W. Slaver, Jr, “Joey” STEPHENTOWN - Joseph W. Slaver, Jr, “Joey”, 23, of Livermore Falls, ME and Stephentown, NY, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends, due to injuries sustained from being struck by a car on October 28, 2016. Joey was born on August 11, 1993 in Gloversville, NY to Joseph W. and Charlene Slaver. Joey grew up in Farmington, ME. He volunteered as a youth at the Edgewood Nursing Home with his father and at the Warming Centers, both in Farmington. Joey was artistic and enjoyed writing, painting and photography. He also had a great appreciation for all types of music, with his favorite classic rock, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits. Joey was known for his kind, caring and compassionate heart. He was a friend to many, and was always there to lend an ear, a shoulder, a hand or support. Joey attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in 2011, had previously worked for the State of New York in Albany and Taconic Plastics in Petersburgh. Joey was strong about his passion to give, and was an organ and tissue donor. Thru his gift, he has given others a new life. Joey is survived by his parents Joseph W. Slaver, Sr, and his wife Linda MacVeigh-Slaver, of Stephentown and Charlene M. Slaver and her fiancé Ken Roosevelt of Farmington, ME, his sister and life-long best friend Amber Gray, her husband Fred and their daughter Brianna Gray of Livermore Falls, ME; his step-siblings Mary Perks of Stephentown, Richard Perks of Orlando, FL and Josh Roosevelt of Gloversville, NY. He was the grandson of Joseph A. Slaver of Cherry Plain and Tom and Joan MacVeigh of Stephentown. He was predeceased by his grandmothers Loretta Slaver and Bertha Lamb. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A funeral service was held on November 7th in Farmington, ME with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton, ME. A celebration of Joey’s life will be held on Saturday, November 26th at the First Baptist Church, 15 North Main Street, Berlin, NY. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm. Please dress casually in your favorite jeans and flannel shirt, in honor of Joey’s signature look. In lieu of flowers, remembrance gifts may be given to either the New England Donor Bank, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451 or to the College Fund for Brianna Gray. Please make the check payable to “Brianna Gray” which can be deposited at any TD Bank branch (specify Brianna Gray – Livermore Falls, ME) or mailed in care of Joe & Linda Slaver, 14 Adams Rd, Stephentown, NY 12168.

It's not easy waking up and not getting a message from you. I keep hoping you'll respond and come back with an insult to Lars Ulrich or something... I miss you and I wish this didn't happen. You've never harmed a soul in your life.

To Joey's family, you raised an incredible young man.I'll miss chillin' on the couch with a PBR listening to his favorite vinyls. Please let his musical passion flow through your family tree and never let it die.
I am so sorry for your loss.
