Lucy Chaszczewski Stackrow COHOES - Lucy Chaszczewski Stackrow, 99, of Cohoes died Monday July 1, 2013 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born in Cohoes, April 4.1914, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Rewer Chaszczewski and beloved wife of the late John W. Stackrow. Lucy was a lifelong resident of Cohoes as well as a lifelong communicant of St. Michael's Parish. She was educated in the Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. Lucy was a homemaker until her children were all in High School; she then went to work at Troy District Shirt Factory where she became a supervisor. She was an accomplished seamstress and made much of her children's clothing in their early years. She also took much pride in her flower garden and was well known for her cake baking. Lucy was very involved with St. Michael's Church and was a daily attendant at Mass. She enjoyed her penny socials and was very active in many organizations, they include; St. Michael's Ladies Rosary Society, Charter member of the Cohoes Columbiettes, a founder of Cohoes Intermediate Baseball League Ladies Auxiliary, a founder of St. Michael's PTA, member of LaSalle Institute Mother's Club, Cohoes Democratic Ladies Club, St. Michael's Community Center Auxiliary and also a member of the P.N.A. group 2462. She is survived by her son, John M. Stackrow, grandson, Matthew (Erica) Kupic, beloved great grandchildren Matthew, Jack and Brook Kupic and Allie Troischt, brother Michael Chaszczewski, son in law, Steve Walsh, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Joseph Stackrow, daughter, Mary Walsh, sisters Valerie Chaszczewski, Alice Skawinski and brother Edward Chaszczewski. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd 105 Vliet Blvd Cohoes Wednesday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Michael's Church at 9 o'clock. Interment is private and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
