Marilyn Hayner Obituary

HAYNER, MARILYN AVERILL PARK - Marilyn D. Hayner, 76, of Sheer Rd. passed into eternal rest with her loving family by her side on Saturday morning, October 23, 2010, at her residence after a long, persevering battle with cancer. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Everett and Vivian Dunton. Loving and devoted wife of 58 years to Albert A. Hayner; and mother of three adored children, Arthur A (Joan) Hayner of Averill Park, ; the late Arlene M. Hayner ; and Alyson (Edward) Regan of Averill Park. Dedicated and loving grandmother to Ryan, Lauren, Matthew and Megan Regan; and Elizabeth and Gregory Hayner. Marilyn was the sister to Robert Dunton (Jean) of Conover, NC; and Arthur Dunton (Eloise) of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Marilyn attended SUNY Albany where she attained her Masters degree in Education and Counseling. She was employed by the Averill Park Central School District for 29 years as a business teacher and guidance counselor. Some of her closest and dearest friends today were her colleagues and students whose relationships were built through the many years at Averill Park High School. Marilyn loved her Scottish Terrier companion, Maisie, and was fond of reading, crossword puzzles, music, shopping, coffee chats and a diehard, loyal fan of her NY Yankees! Some of her happiest days were when all her children and grandchildren would enjoy her delicious, home-cooked meals around the table together and vacationing at Lake George and Martha's Vineyard. Fun-loving adventures with her husband, Al, included cross-country travel on their Harley motorcycle, snowmobiling in the Adirondacks and boating and camping at Red Rock Bay on Lake George. The family extends a very special thank you to all of Marilyn's dedicated and compassionate doctors, nurses and staff of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Claire Hanley for all of her daily nursing care and love and support. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service honoring Marilyn's selfless, love-filled life at the Church of the Covenant United Methodist 3055 NY 43 Averill Park on Sunday, November 14th, 2:00 pm. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co. 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Marilyn D. Hayner. Mom, thank you for your unconditional, gentle love and taking care of all of us through the years. We will carry your beautiful soul and smile within our hearts forever; good-bye for now, my truest and best friend. We celebrate you! Arrangements by the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel Inc. I am sorry to hear of Marilyn's death. She was a wonderful person and for me, the definition of a caring, empathetic school counselor. She helped me often with great advice and encouragement and as a role model for dealing professionally with diffucult issues while exhibiting the caring attitude essential for real leadership. To the Haynor Family,

I wanted to send my sympathy to your family. Mrs. Haynor was a vital part of Averill Park High School and my high school career.

I was saddened to read of her passing, she was a wonderful, kind, helpful, caring individual. I often wondered how she was after her retirement. I will always have fond memories of her. She was a very easy person to talk with and I will miss her.

Accept my sincerest sympathy for your loss.
