Maurice J. Collins, Jr. GREEN ISLAND – Maurice J. Collins, Jr., “T-Boy,” died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, with his family by his side, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Waterford, son of the late Maurice Collins, Sr. and Estelle Bellerose Collins Dennis, he resided in Green Island and then Cohoes for several years before moving back to Green Island in the 1970’s. T-Boy proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps from 1954 to 1955. He had been employed by the Bendix Corporation as a fork lift operator for 35 years and then for 21 years as a school bus driver for Star and Strand. He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and had been a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island until its closing. He was a very active member of the Legnard-Curtin American Legion Post in Green Island, serving as Historian and photographer for the Post. T-Boy was also a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh, the Vagabond Club in Green Island and Green Island Senior Citizens. T-Boy was a very active member of the community who was honored as the Grand Marshall of the Green Island Memorial Day Parade in 2008. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed attending summer concerts with his family at “The GIG.” He is the beloved husband of Anne E. “Betty” Collins and loving brother of Martha (late John) Demarest, Bart (late Carol) Collins, Toni (late Willard) Jones and the late Carol Ann (late Edward) Murray. T-Boy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Tuesday, January 17th at 9:15 a.m. and at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet at 10:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery at noon. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, the family has requested that contributions be made in memory of T-Boy to either the Legnard-Curtin Post American Legion or the Green Island Senior Citizens.
