Paul Mason Obituary

Paul A. Mason Sr. Pittstown- Paul A. Mason Sr., 76, a longtime Pittstown resident, died peacefully, Friday, May 9, 2014, at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side, after a brief illness and a broken heart, following the death of his beloved wife, Eileen, who died December 1, 2013. Born in Petersburg, July 1, 1937, Mr. Mason was the son of the late William T. and Thelma B. (Bentley) Mason and for over 55 years the devoted husband of Eileen A. (Marchand) Mason. Paul was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. On November 26, 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training he was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan where he served for over 2 years. At the time of his honorable discharge in October 1963 he had earned the rank of Airman E-5. After returning home, he worked for several years in the automotive field as both a mechanic and an autobody man. More recently he had been employed for over 15 years as a Electronic Technician by Rensselaer Institute in Troy. Mr. Mason retired in 2002. Paul was a member and lay ministry deacon at the Pittstown United Methodist Church and a life member of the Pittstown Volunteer Fire Company. As a younger man his hobbies included, hunting and fishing and enjoying the outdoors. In his recent pastimes he enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, operating his ham radio and spending time with his children, grandchildren and many friends. Mr. Mason is survived by his five children and their spouses, David and Sylvia Theodorowicz of East Hampton, MA, Linda and Bill Tetrault of Troy, Debra and Eric Weiskopf of Clifton Park, Paul and Kim Mason Jr. and Donna and Ryan Matthews all of Pittstown, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ray Snyder of Petersburg, Sharon and Lawrence Ludwig of Plattsburgh and a brother, David Mason of Rochester, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren with one more on the way and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother, the late Lloyd Mason. A funeral service for Mr. Mason will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 57 Old Route 7, in Pittstown with Rev. Camillus Maurice officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Norton Cemtery, Pittstown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to either the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 45 Old Route 7. Johnsonville, NY 12094 or Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Paul A. Mason Sr.

Paul and family, We were saddened to hear of your dad's passing. Paul was part of my RPI family and I always enjoyed talking with him. Rick remembers him fondly from his days at Maplewood Auto Body shop. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. May his memory be eternal....
