William Maynard Obituary

William H Maynard "Bill", 82 of Berlin NY passed away peacefully on Friday October 14, 2022, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls after a brief illness. Born in Berlin, he was the son of the late Clarence and Alice Pearl (Haywood) Maynard. He attended Berlin Central School. He was employed by Callanan Industries as an operating engineer for over 33 years and enjoyed his retirement for over 20 years. Bill always liked to say he got his money's worth from the retirement system and Social Security! In his younger years Bill was very active in the Grafton Little League with his sons. He also assisted with the Berlin Youth Commission, organizing trips to Guptill's Arena, the drive-in movies, sledding and ice fishing events. He was an avid photographer, outdoors-man, snowmobiler, hunter, and Met's fan. He liked to spend time with his family and close friends. Bill was the organizer of many canoe trips down the Batten kill river with his sons and their close friends. Bill was rough around the edges, but for those close to him he allowed a somewhat softer side to show.He was predeceased by his three sisters, Pearl Alice Goyer, Evelyn Myott, and Almira Stark. He is survived by his four sons, William H. Maynard II (Katherine) of Corinth, Michael P. Maynard (Lisa) of Schaghticoke, Jeremy Maynard (Tina) of Medusa, and Adam Maynard (Shauna) of Castleton on the Hudson. He was a proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be no immediate calling hours. A celebration of life for family and close friends will be announced at a later date. A special thanks to all the kind staff at Bennington Hospital and CNR for their care and support. https://www.lastingmemories.com/william-h-maynard

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Waited on him at Jean's diner. I enjoyed talking with him. Met him at Benson's and use to call him. Very sorry to hear of his loss

Bill and I were friends for many years. I watched the boys grow up and Bill kept me informed of marriages and grandchildren. Bill had a unique sense of humor. He loved hunting and his home on Old Post Road. I will miss his visits at my office.
Sincere sympathies to the boys.
Rest in peace, Bill.

My condolences to all the family. I enjoyed reconnecting with Bill last year at the counter of Benson's Restaurant. He was always bragging on his family.
