William Sheehan Obituary

William J. Sheehan TROY – William J. Sheehan, known to friends and family as Jeffrey, died on Tuesday, March 5th 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Jeffrey was the son of the late William and Mildred Abrahamson Sheehan. Jeff lived in Lansingburgh all of his life and was well known on the local music scene. Jeff's venue of choice was the Eagle Club on Fifth Avenue in Troy where he quickly became part of the Eagle family. Jeff attended Lansingburgh High School graduating cum laude in the Class of1971 and was an active participant in many clubs and was the editor of the Odyssey Yearbook. For some years Jeff was employed as a clerk for the Troy Housing Authority and later on followed pursuits more fitting to his lifestyle. Jeff had friends from all walks of life and many remembered him as a talented keyboardist having played in such bands as Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets, Random Cool Zip, The Myth, Half Step, and most recently My Cool Uncle's Band. He is fondly remembered as “The Professor of Music”. Jeff was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, VW's, Schlitz beer and good conversation. Words such as kind, intelligent, sincere and considerate come quickly to mind when thinking of Jeff. Jeff's inner-circle, “The Rye Bread Crew” describe Jeff as illuminating, smiling and have dubbed him “The Keeper of the Rhythm”. Jeffrey was unique and the Rye Bread Crew extends to him their traditional words of parting: Rye bread Jeff. Jeffrey is also survived by many cousins on both the Sheehan and Abrahamson sides. A memorial service for Jeffrey will be held at 11 am on Saturday April 6th at Prince of Peace Church, 15 111th Street in Troy. Burial of Jeff's ashes at the Oakwood Cemetery will immediately follow the service. After the burial the Eagle Club extends an invitation to one and all to join them for lunch at their headquarters at 513 5th Avenue in Troy to continue the celebration of Jeffrey's life.
