Adolph Wright Obituary

Adolph (Ade) Wright January 1, 1921 - June 23, 2009 After a typical active day Ade passed away in his sleep at home in Tucson. The world has lost a marvelous storyteller, rock hound and good samaritan. Born in Davenport Iowa, Ade later moved to Chicago with his parents Paul and Janette and brother Louis. While serving with the Army Air Corp. in Guam during WWII, Ade married Berta Stiglitz on May 13, 1945. He continued his studies earning a B.S. from the University of Colorado. Ade and Berta settled in Tucson in 1950 where Ade pursued graduate studies in Earth Science and Education at the University of Arizona. During this time he also partnered with Berta in developing her folk and contemporary crafts gallery. As a pioneer in alternative teaching methods, Ade trained teachers throughout the U.S. on techniques for tailoring teaching to the needs of children. Preceded in death by his parents, brother and wife, Ade is survived by daughter, Casonti McClure of Tucson; and sons, David (Annie) of Delmar, N.Y. and Nolan (Martha) of Austin TX. Ade is also survived by his grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, Kaitlin, Aaron, Hannah, Eli and Bella whose imaginations were sparked by his endless passion for exploration of ideas and nature. Ade is also survived by his best friend, Bette Dehls. Donations can be made in his name to Habitat for Humanity or the Prima Vera Foundation.

Dear Cas and Family,

I send you condolences on the death of your father. I’m so sorry for your loss.

You were my good friend at Doolen I.S., dancing over and over to the Woodstock album, and freshman year at Catalina (before I moved to Amphi). You were always very friendly, upbeat and fun! You took me to a presentation about Arcosanti at the UofA.

I remember your mother’s wonderful gallery on Speedway lined up with Departure, The Company, Wylie’s Leather, etc. Those were fun times!

My thoughts are with you now as you remember the life of your father.

Sincerely,
Nancy Meyer
