Alfredo De La Ossa Obituary

Alfredo De La Ossa went to heaven on March 4, 2014. He was born in Lochiel, Arizona on May 11, 1932. He was a loving, caring man to all whose lives he touched. His love of knowledge made him a great story teller who entertained us constantly. With a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, he also endlessly loved to share clever jokes. He also was intrigued with the animal world and shared a multitude of details of all wild life. To his children, he taught to love and enjoy music which we carry in our hearts. As a veteran of the Korean War, he taught us to embrace our American heritage but also to be proud of our Mexican culture. His curious mind had him always inventing unique things. He could fix anything with parts or without. He was our Mexican McGyver. He was our father, our dad, our pop, our tata. He was our superman. Our hearts painfully miss him. Era el hombre que guioó nuestra familia y estamos eternamente agradecidos que Dios nos lo mandó. Alfredo leaves behind his wife Otilia; six children, Marty Fuentes, Ernestina Fuentes, Joaquin Fuentes (Carla), Don Fuentes (Vanie), Virginia Sanchez (Ramon), Emelina Escalante (Robert); 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by granddaughter, Melissa Fuentes; his father, Rosamel De La Osa; mother, Mercedes Ramirez De La Ossa; sister, Carolina Simmons; brothers, Vicente De La Ossa, and Mariano De La Ossa. Services will be at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 15440 S. Santa Rita Rd, Sahuarita, Arizona on Saturday, March 8, 2014 with 8:00 a.m. Viewing 9:00 a.m. Rosary 9:30 a.m. Mass followed by interment at 11:00 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Avenue.

We laid my "Pop" to rest, but he will be with me foever. I may have been a Fuentes by birth...but my tata's love and guidance made me a DeLaOssa. He was there when I was born...when I learned to walk and talk..when I graduated high chool..when I got married..when my children were born..and when we buried two of my children. Every holiday when he made turkey, he always saved me the turkey necks...I would always make devilled eggs and have to make sure to make a few extra to put aside for just him to enjoy. I will never forget the times we shared..the laughs..the joys..the good..the bad. Whenever I needed anything..even when I didn't think I did...my Pop was there. I love you my Pop...forever, your Mato Ann
