Barbara had a great sense of humor. We were friends at the UU church in Sierra Vista and travelled together in a group of UUs to Copper Canyon, Chihuahua. There was an eccentric guy on the trip whose goal in life was to create an airtight casket. That got us to talking about the service for Barbara's husband. Apparently the urn with his ashes was a little too airtight. She told me about being out in a boat trying to deposit the urn in a lake that he loved only to find that the darn thing wouldn't sink. In her frustraation she and the others in the boat then proceeded to whack the urn repeatedly with their oars! We laughed hysterically at the memory.
I want to express my condolences to her children. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara was a bright light in this world and a special person in my life. She was the first person I met from the Unitarian Universalist congregation in Sierra Vista and was the chair of the search committee that called me. We worked together on many things and I greatly respected her energy, enthusiasm, honesty, insight, and wonderful sense of humor. I have missed her and mourn her passing, but am truly grateful to have known her.

Barbara was one of the funniest women I have ever known. Her love of reading, history, politics and human comedy was always a learning and rewarding experience. We had many adventures and she was my guide and companion for many good years. I will always remember her with great love and respect.
