Benjamin Cohen Obituary

Dr. Benjamin Cohen 88, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2009, in Tucson, AZ. Devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, and proud uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born April 30, 1920 in Johnstown, OH to the late Harry and Florence Cohen. Predeceased by wife, Sylvia in January, 2007. Earned two degrees from The Ohio State University, DDS in 1943 and BS in Agriculture in 1976. Practiced dentistry in Columbus, OH for over 40 years. Honorably discharged, Captain in US Army. Life member B'nai B'rith, JWV, OSU Alumni Assn, Alpha Omega, Columbus Dental Society, Ohio Dental Assn, American Dental Assn. Loved traveling with his family in America, Canada, and abroad. Survived by sister, Lilyan Abramson; brother, Lew (Betty); son, Dr. David N. Cohen; daughters, Rena Cohen, Sharon (Morris) Barkan, and Deborah (Dr. Ezra) Shapiro. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and in-laws Arthur, Marci, and Ethel Meizlish. Special thanks to Cora, Tresha, and the staff at Peppi's House. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the New Agudas Achim Cemetery in Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Assn. in Ben's memory or the charity of your choice. Ben was a gentle man who will be missed by his family and friends. Local arrangements entrusted to ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 520-327-6341.
