Bonny Lou "Bock" Nitka

Bonny Nitka Obituary

Bonny Lou "Bock" Nitka November 13, 1954 - May 8, 2007 After a long, courageous battle with breast cancer, Bonny has found her way into the arms of the Lord. She was born and raised in Tucson, AZ where she attended Green Fields Country Day School and Catalina High School. In her youth, Bonny loved her travels to the Mexico beaches, water skiing at Apache Lake and more recently being a part of the racing community. Bonny thoroughly enjoyed the years she worked in the hardware business which included Wicks Lumber, Grant Road Lumber and Payless Cashways. For the past few years, Bonny and her husband, Michael loved living part-time near San Francisco, CA. Nothing in Bonny's life meant more to her than raising her twin boys, Mikey and Joey. She was blessed to have a marriage of 25 years to her loving husband, Michael. Bonny was a devoted wife, loving mother and a caring and compassionate friend. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter which brought so much joy to all the lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis H. Bock and Mildred (Bock) Elk. Bonny is survived by her husband, Michael; her sons, Michael and Joseph (Heather Goldman); brother, Lou (Shelly) Bock; sister, Vicky Winter; her loving father- and mother-in-law, Joseph M. and Betty Nitka; many nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Shadow. Bonny's ashes will be spread near Bodega Bay, CA and a memorial will be held at a later date. Please contact a family member if you would like to attend the memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonny's name to a charity of your choice.

As I look back on the years of our friendship, there were times when we should have stayed in closer contact with one another. Most importantly are my memories, Catalina Foothills, Catalina High, our Mexico trips, introducing you to Mike, my wedding, your wedding to Mike, the ultrasound when you found out you were having twins (wondering if Mike was going to pass out!), sitting in the waiting room with your Dad when you delivered the boys, your call that the boys had dismantled the gas meter ( their destiny was already set !). My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones you left behind. I will never stop missing you.

Bonny, when I was little girl you brought over a porcelain doll that you were making by hand. I told you I liked it, and a few weeks later it was mine. You are the most compassionate person and loving person there is. You will be remembered forever, will be in my heart forever and I will see you again someday. I love you!

Bonny, thank you so much for remembering my birthday when you barely knew me; thank you for giving me that pretty stationery set and the lap blanket "just because"--these things always make me think of you every single time I use them--and for giving me that 2005 Audobon calendar because you remembered I'd been complaining about the absence of book stores in my new CA neighborhood. Bonny, thanks for the memories of wine tasting with Michael when Harry and I first arrived in wine country, and for that first Thanksgiving the four of us had in that tiny red cabin, our first CA home upon leaving MA. Bonny, I'd always thought, after finally meeting you in 2004, that we'd have all the time in the world to get to know each other, talk, do girl-stuff...maybe even take a trip together. Sor for now, I wish you a pleasant journey, and I will see you again on the other side.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys. Bonnie was always so sweet and kind to Kelsey. I am so glad they were able to see each again. Bonnie was a very sincere and caring person. She was really a comfort to Joycia and an inspiration to Ray. She took the time to show she cared. Now her and Ray can look down and watch over all of us.
