Charles Wagner Obituary

Charles Richard Wagner died of cancer February 25, 2014 at Casa de la Luz hospice in Tucson. He was born in Phoenix, August 18, 1938. He graduated in 1960 from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He remained a devoted Wildcat basketball fan all his life. Chuck was an avid tennis player and competed for many years in USTA league tennis, usually serving as team captain. In 2007, three teams captained by Chuck finished first in their Tucson competition, went on to win the Southwest sectionals championships, and then competed for the national USTA league championship. Chuck and his wife, Pat loved to travel and took memorable trips together throughout Europe. Chuck was a member of St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his brother, Gary Kaasa (Connie) of Phoenix; his children, Nina Austin (Christopher), John and Douglas; stepchildren, Michael Drayne (Maria), Elizabeth Brent, Katherine Blount (David) and Susanna Drayne (Michael) and grandchildren, Margot and Andrew Austin, Susanna and Charles Blount, Malcolm, Eli and Katherine Brent, Fiona and Vincent Drayne and Sebastian and Bridget Drayne. A Memorial Service was held at the family home Saturday, March 1, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice Foundation, 7740 N. Oracle, Tucson, AZ 85704. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.
