Chuck Townsdin

1941 - 2026

Charles "Chuck" Lawrence Townsdin Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona at age 84. Chuck was born to Marian and Charles Sr. on September 11, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. His family moved to Tucson in 1950, when he was 9, so his father could pursue his calling of being a cattle rancher. Chuck attended St. Peter & Paul and graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson. He received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Arizona in 1963 - while playing golf for the U of A, and subsequently earned a law degree at the University of Arizona in 1966. Chuck enlisted as a Navy Jag and served in San Diego before being sent to Australia to serve during the Vietnam War. In Australia, he met his beautiful English wife, Sandy. It was a true love story! They traveled for 2 years together and explored many countries throughout Europe, SE Asia and the Middle East– including many countries where Americans can no longer go. They settled and started their family in Tucson in 1973. Chuck held many roles during his wonderfully full life; youth baseball player, avid golfer, Fiji brother, U of A Wildcat fan, world traveler, lawyer, Veteran, business owner, real estate developer, Western Art lover, and Tucson Conquistador. But his most cherished roles were that of husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Chuck was a generous and honest man whose sense of humor was evident up to the end. Chuck is survived by his wife Sandra "Sandy", children Kelly Kiang and Michael Townsdin, son in law Stan Kiang, daughter in law Brigitte Townsdin, and grandchildren Emma Townsdin, Shawn Kiang, Ryan Kiang, and Jeffrey Kiang. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 4:30pm at Tucson Country Club located at 2950 N. Camino Principal.
