David Cote Obituary

David H. Cote 71, died October 24, 2005. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; children, Richard (Janet), Peter, Paul (Catherine), and Denise (Andrew) McCreery; and four grandchildren. David was an extraordinary man who truly led an extraordinary life. His mission was simple: faith, family and friends.... and definitely fun! His faith guided him through a long and gratifying career in Pharmacy, as well as medical work on the Navajo reservation for more than three years. In his early fifties, David and his wife Mary Lou put convention on hold to serve a term as Peace Corp volunteers. David was deeply committed to the Catholic Church and his faith in God. He was actively involved in charitable organizations, political groups and family matters. David's family was his priority, period. In college, he met a beautiful, brown-eyed girl who would become the absolute love of his life. They were engaged on their second date and they lived happily ever after for more than 45 years. He loved his wife more than anything. David was a loving and dedicated father, raising four beautiful, happy children whom he enjoyed spending time with frequently. David has always been very proud of his kids and the adults they have become; he told them so often. David had many friends with whom he laughed, played, dined and traveled; they were each other's support, confidant and comic relief. He always said that at the end of the day, it was the relationships that mattered most, and he truly lived by that philosophy. Having fun was not an option to David, he always brought life to the party. He enjoyed traveling, fine dining, good wine and better conversation. He acted on stage, sang around the house and whistled wherever he went. His spirit, his love and his zest for life will all be greatly missed. A commemorative Mass will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. The celebration of his life will continue at the home of his daughter Denise at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to express their sentiments may do so by donating to the American Diabetes Association, 40 N. Swan, Ste 116, Tucson, AZ 85711. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Carol Simpson Smith. I knew Dick from Tanque Verde Elementary School. I fondly remember your dad as a kind, caring and wonderful man. As I recall we went hiking in Sabino Canyon for school and I was in your group. I am handicapped and your dad took special care to help me along and make sure I was treated well on the trip. I will never forget the simply acts of kindness he showed me that day. The world has lost a wonderful man. If you wish, you may contact me by e-mail. P.S. This entry is submitted late as I didn't realize this guest book option was available until recently.

I worked with David at Danny's Pharmacy. He was always able to light up the room with his smile, a joke, or story. He was very knowledgeable and could have a great conversation in any field. He seemed to enjoy life and work to the fullest. He was always the first pharmacist would go to if I had a question about something and he always had the answer. It was an honor and a priviledge to have known and worked with David. I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything.

Our codolences to the Cote' family. We grew up with the kids in Willcox and knew Mr. Cote' well. Reguardless of who we were, and we were a ragged bunch, he treated us like we belonged. We will have you in our prayers. Take care and God bless.

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me.

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Remember the love that was once shared and honor the life that was so lived. - Author Unknown

David said to me that he had wanted a good husband for his daughter and grandchildren and that he got both. He was given the time to enjoy the grandchildren he loved so much. Husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, he will be sorely missed.

David Cote was a wonderful man. I had the privilege of knowing him as my son Andrew McCreery married his daughter Denise. He and MaryLou were the "inlaws" that you would love to have, there could be none better.

I will miss David very much, but somehow I will feel his good cheer whenever I visit Tucson.
