Deanna Barnum Obituary

Deanna Marie Barnum With a broken heart and sadness deeper than I have ever known, I write these words because I don't want my sister, Deanna Barnum, remembered by the tragic way she died. We called her DeDe. She was a daughter, sister and a mother. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known; sweet and quiet. So quiet that sometimes it was hard to hear her speak. She was an artist, potter and a seamstress. She spent over 15 years serving the physically and mentally disabled. She is the one I grew up with, became Brownies and Girl Scouts with, shared clothes with, played dolls with, hung garlic all around our beds to chase away vampires with when we were little. We rejoice in knowing that DeDe was very excited about finding a new job with the help of the Gospel Rescue Mission. We rejoice more so in knowing that she is now in the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. I want others to know who she was because after such a tragic ending, her memory should be honored. I loved her and will miss her always. Deanna was born December 11, 1962 in Chicago, IL and died July 10, 2012, she is survived by her father, Joseph Barnum; mother, Sandra (Richard) BarMcQ; brother, Andrew Barnum; sister, Betty-Jo Salinas and her son, Daniel Barnum-Swett. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, 3015 N. Oracle Rd. at 3:00 p.m. There is no way to express the emptiness and pain that has been brought to me and my family. DeDe, We will always love you and remember you.

DeDe...Words cannot describe the pain and sadness in my heart for such a dear, sweet friend/family. I still ask "Why?". The heartache is unbearable at times. You were such a beautiful and kind person, the sweetest soul..very soft spoken and I will never forget your beautiful smile that would light up the room!! I know that you are in the arms of our loving Lord now and at peace. You are forever in my heart and have all my love. Rest in peace my friend. Betty...you are one of my oldest and dearest of best friends and now my cousin...I know through all our conversations during this time that it took all you had in you to write this. You wrote a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to your beloved sister. You know that my thoughts, prayers and heart are with you now and always. I love you. ~Sandra~

..."Don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain, We'll see each other once again, I am at peace, try to believe, It was my time, I had to leave,...But "what a view" I have from here, I see your face, I feel you near, I follow you throughout the day, You're not alone along the way, And when God calls you, you will be, right by my side...right here with me."

I don't know you or DeDe, or the circumstances surrounding her death, but I could feel the pain & sorrow in your words. I'm deeply sorry for your loss! It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life.... God bless you and your family!

Love, prayers and condolences to the heartbroken family of DeDe. A sweet and gentle spirit and as her sister Betty said she spoke so softly sometimes you could hardly hear her. I worked with her in Cascabel Clayworks many years ago. I will keep her beautiful memory in my heart forever.

Deanna was a dear, sweet part of my life when we worked together at the clayworks so many many years ago. She was very private, very kind, and I have the most wonderful memory of her riding bareback out to the mailbox on a pony that not just anyone could ride! Prayers that her precious soul has a safe journey onward and that all of us who knew and loved her cherish the good memories she left behind.

DeDe was a dear friend of mine back in 1980. We lived together in Southern Arizona on a beautiful part of the San Pedro River. We shared many happy times together. Her soft voice was a pure delight & often her smile or laughter was the best language on earth. We lost touch when I left that serene life for the city life in Tucson. When I learned my friend/coworker was one of people involved with reporting her death I did not make the connection. Upon reading her sister's elequent description I knew she was talking about a much loved friend of mine from long ago. She was a free spirited wonderful young lady when we shared many happy times together. God Bless all who mourn the sad news of your passing. See you in the next life DeDe, Love Joyce, Joe, Daniel and Veronica Olivas

Words can not express how saddened I am about Deanna's passing. She was a very sweet soul and there were many that loved her. Such a gentle, caring person. I am proud that I was able to talk with Deanna at times. I do wish I was able to know her better than I did.

A beautiful tribute for your sister, whom we never met in person, but your heartfelt words vividly described the beautiful person that she was. Our prayers are with your family as you find comfort in knowing she is rejoicing with her Heavenly Father. (Romans 8:28)

I am deeply saddened by Deanna's passing. She was a regular and much beloved member of our Casa Paloma family where I am the case manager. Her sense of humor and intelligence, her compassion and genuine interest in others well being made Deanna a joy to be around. I am priviliged to have known her and will miss her. RIP Deanna.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to your entire family. Thank you for the loving tribute to your sister, daughter, mother and friend. It is a senseless loss of a loved one, that even time does not heal. Be comforted knowing others are thinking of you during this difficult time. I do not know Deanna or your family, but live in the neighboring area. My respects and best wishes for healing to you.
