We were "brothers - from - another - mother".
His "twisted" sense of humor was always, and still is, one of the things memorable about Doug. I will always remember my "brother" fondly. Someday, God willing, we will share more laughs and perhaps, catch the "one that got away"! Love and miss you Doug...your brother John D.

A day hasn't gone by that I haven't thought of my "brother from another mother". Our love for music brought us in to a life-long friendship that remained for decades. We were best of friends...fishing buddies, army buddies, and of course, music buddies. Doug's twisted, yet engaging sense-of-humor was always apparent. His ability to encourage and
lift up was an integral part of who he was. So many times he would solve the "issue-of-the-day" I was experiencing...and end up turning it into laughable moment. He and I went on a couple road trips to his place in Indiana, and I was able to get a real sense of who Doug was, even after knowing him for so many years. I will always have wonderful memories in my head and heart for a man who was, and will always be the friend and "brother" that, in a life time, only occurs once. Thanks Doug...we'll meet up in God's kingdom.

Oh, Lynne, Scott & Krista,
I just got home to seeing Carmen wiping her eyes as she handed me the card that you sent us, Lynne. I am so sorry and heartbroken. Doug's memory will live on in my and many other hearts that he touched. Doug kept me laughing at the ballpark and the friendship of your family will also live on forever.
When Carmen was pregnant with Billy, Doug took me aside and told me that this baby would be the greatest gift I will ever receive, and he was right. As he said that, he had tears in his eyes as he was quite emotional, reflecting on you, his family and children.
He was such a good friend, I will miss him dearly.

I spent a good deal of the day thinking about Doug, he was one-of-a-kind and I'm so very glad I got to spend time with him and your family. I'm a better person for knowing him and I know he is here with us in spirit and his life will be celebrated, not just on his birthday but every day throughout the years. I miss him and his kindness.
Me and Dad in the White Mountains. I was 7 months pregnant with Wyatt! It was a great trip!

Dear Lynne, Krista, and Scott;
We are so devasted to hear of your loss. Doug was a wonderful and unique man and the world is a poorer place for his passing. We always think we have more time and are shocked to find out just how wrong we are. We adored the years of having you all for neighbors and you know how much we enjoyed the band. Please accept our condolences and know that we are hurting too. We know we will see him again but this time without him will be hard to live with. We were wrong to assume that option would always be there.

I’d walk right up to heaven

I had the privilege of working with Doug for two years at the PCSD back in 1988-90. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a caring and loyal friend; a great man.

I met you 48 years ago. We played music together in rock & country bands. We were Army buddy's, fishin' buddy's, & shared in each others families lives. Your 'twisted' & unique sense of humor was compelling and served as the anchor in our long relationship as 'brothers'.One reason to have a relationship with another adult is to have someone to laugh with.
You made me laugh & my family and I will miss that. Save a good spot on the lake for me. I'll be with you soon old friend. John

Doug, even though we went our separate ways years ago, we were best friends and neighbors back in the days. Your sense of humor tended, sometimes to get us into a little trouble.
The nights we spent at Lake Patagonia fishing for catfish by lantern light. Your love of Rock & Roll, your drums, Elvis,"cruising" Speedway, we had a ball. I have tought of you often thru the years. You will be missed

Dear Lynn and Family, I too send my deepest sympathy for your loss. Doug was a great family man, a great cop and a great friend. He will be missed by many. I worked with Doug at the Sheriff's Department back in the 70's and we shared many, many laughs. What a sense of humor! I'll miss the friendship and the music. As Elvis said, "Thank you very much!"

I havent seen any of you in so long and yet it feels like just yesterday when doug, Jim, and John were sitting in our livingroom on Palm Tree Drive practicing music with my mom and dad. Boy those were the good old days. I would love to sit and listen to them play. Music has always been a major necessity in my life, and they played it so well. Doug will be missed by so many but I have to agree with you Krista, he is up with his loved ones playing beautiful music putting smiles on all the angels faces. God Speed Doug!!!!!!! Dear Lynn and family, I send my deepest sympathy for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have never met in my life time any men more descent and respectful than the Schultz's. Doug was a fine man, great drummer and a good friend. Just know some day we will all be together again. For now, Doug will be in our hearts and we feel priviledged to have walked with him here on earth. God Bless You.

Lynne -
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I worked with Doug at the S.O. in the 70's. The one memory that stands out with me is what an Elvis fan he was. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

When I close my eyes, I see a very thin, brown haired young man with a quick wit and ready smile. He used to tease my mom endlessly and she would laugh for hours about his behaviors. He painfully gave the eulogy at my dad's funeral and I will remember his words forever. He was sincere, loving and so much fun. I know you lived life to the beat of your own drums and you are probably having a concert tonight with all of those who loved you and your music. Because of you, many people were made happy and proud. God speed Doug, I will certainly never forget you.

I have known Doug since he was a teenager. We used to fish together at Mt. Lemmon with his dad too. The band he was in played at my daughters big wedding and was a huge hit. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim & Dennis and families as I worked with them at TNI too. Praying for you all.

Doug, you were there to take care of me in high school at Sabino when I was in a car accident, but you never judged me. Even though Krista & I were inseperable then. You were stern & firm as a loving dad but your kids knew how much you loved them. We'll all miss you. luv Jodi
