I met Fern Charles and Eunice in 1958 and I was known as the babysitter of Charles Jr., Lisa, and Michael (Poncho). We all lived in Mission Trailer Court. In 1971 I married his nephew Fred Hamill Jr. This marriage sadly ended in divorce in 1974. I dearly loved Eunice Hamill and am glad Fern is with her now as she loved him very much. I spent many years researching the Hamill family and had been thinking of Fern the last few months and was going to call his family and see how he was doing. I welcome any email or calls. Fern you were always full of life and had a big heart warming smile. The stories you told I could have listened to them all day. As a friend and partner you were the best. An how proud you were of your children and granchildren. I will miss you, we all will miss you. R.I.P Fern.

I loved seeing Fern come into the copy shop where I worked. He was enthusiastic about being alive, about his travels, treasures, and discoveries - and about his children.
He went at it 100%. We should do the same.
