Mr. Wilt was instrumental in my sister“s and my development as middle school students. I will never forget the orchestra practices, rehearsals and concerts at the state fair. Thank you Mr. Wilt for teaching me how to play the cello and Cannon in D. Utterback middle school orchestra of 2001-2003.

Mr. Wilt expanded on my knowledge playing the cello. Although away from Tucson in the Navy for more than 17 years now looking at retirement, I find myself looking back constantly on what I want to do with the rest of my life Music teaching has crossed my mind. I can see in my son how music inspires him as Mr. Wilt saw it in me. Mr. Wilt has inspired and influenced me through music as every song with a cello brings back all the memories, concerts played under his direction. and those trips to the Grand Canyon. Always in my thoughts. Please know that Mr. Wilt will continue to impact people through multiplication of those he has already impacted.

I went to school with Nelson back in Grove City, Ohio in the 50's. He was a good friend and a real nice guy. I remember he was very interested in astronomy. I remember the two of us standing out in the cold on more than one winter's night looking at stars and planets through his telescope. Sorry to hear of his early passing, but glad to hear he seemed to have a full life and influenced the lives of many.

Mr. Wilt was my Orchestra teacher at Utterback many years ago, but I will never forget him. He had a way of teaching that sticks with you, and made me love music even more. I will never forget all the memories in that class. Canon in D will always be my favorite, and will forever be in my heart with the memory of you.

Mr. Wilt was my orchestra teacher at Utterback. For 3 years, I spent every morning with him in 1st period lab orchestra. I always thought it was the best way to start the day. For 2 of those years I was also in his String Ensemble and I was so proud to be a part of that. He taught me so much and always believed in me. He gave us all so many great opportunities and memories to last a lifetime. He was a kind, caring man and everyone who knew him, loved him. I am so thankful to have had him in my life. I am sure he is up in heaven, still sharing his love for music!
