Gary Strobel Obituary

Gary Leroy Strobel age 75, passed away peacefully July 13, 2011 in TMC Hospice/Peppi's House. Born to Leona Southern Strobel and John Roy Strobel of New Castle, PA. Gary attended New Castle High, graduating in 1954. After High School he joined the Air Force serving in Mississippi, Maine and Alaska. Gary has been a resident of Tucson for the past 32 years and retired from IBM in 1993 where he worked as an Electronics Technician. Gary had a very bright mind and his interests were many. He loved to tinker for hours in his workshop listening to the sounds of Les Paul as he worked on his latest challenge bought at a local flea market. He loved the desert and always took the time to admire the beauty of a sunset. Gary was a proud, amazing and considerate father. We love him and miss him already. He will be in our hearts forever. Gary is survived by Edna his wife of 35 years; his children, Steven (Brenda) Strobel, Barbara (Edward) Mayo, Teresa (Robert) Ortopan, Lisa (Wayne) Chase and Michelle (John) Bartlett; his grandchildren, Beth, Doug, TJ, Erick, Travis, Garrett, Jacob and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ann Strobel Knauff of Hollister, CA and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TMC Hospice/Peppi's House, 5301 E. Grant Rd. Friends are invited to attend graveside services Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

My memories of Uncle Gary are from my younger years when we would visit the family when they lived in Mount Sterling, KY. I reminder him being a very kind and caring man to his family. He fixed dinner for us and made pigs-in-a-blanket. He was a very good cook. I do wish I could have made it to Arizona in his later years. He will be missed and I am thankful that he came in to Aunt Edna and the girls lives.

When Aunt Leona used to have us kids over to stay for a week, I remember Gary had a drawer full of Gadgets and stuff. I like to look at that stuff and it motivated me to be somewhat of a gadget guru today as seen on my Youtube Videos. Gary and I were in touch just last week as he always commented on my productions, a few even inspired by him.
See you on the other side someday Gary and hope it is what we all expect.
