Joseph Strobel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home - Bethlehem on Mar. 3, 2026.
Joseph Thomas Strobel, Sr., affectionately known as Joe, was a beacon of strength and joy to all that knew him. Born on August 7, 1949, in Bethlehem, Joe lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love. His journey came to a peaceful close on February 27, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family. He was a member of the Star of Bethlehem.

Joe's early years in Bethlehem were the foundation of a life well-lived. He was a proud graduate of Liberty High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of community. After graduation, Joe went on to work at the Bethlehem Fabs as a painter. As a dedicated union member of the United Steel Workers Local 1371 he went on to serve as president. His commitment to his fellow workers was unwavering, and he was revered for his fairness and ability to advocate for their collective well-being. His journey continued on to being a fitter welder/inspector at the Fuller Company and other fabrication plants in the Lehigh Valley.

His personal life was equally rich and full. Joe was blessed with a beautiful marriage to his beloved wife, Cindy Strobel of 58 years. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and mutual respect. Joe was a devoted father to Joanne Strobel-Cort and her husband Christopher of Summit, NJ, and Joseph Strobel Jr. and his wife Lyn of Walnutport, PA. He also shared a special bond with his brother, Daryl "Cub" Strobel and his wife Nancy of Bethlehem. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, Michael, Tristan, Joseph "Gunner," Ryan, Emilee, and Katelin, and great granddaughter Esmeray, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Joe was predeceased by his loving parents, Joseph A. Strobel and Grace C. (Stoudt) Strobel. He was also preceded in death by his beloved English Springer Spaniel, Gauge, who was a faithful companion on many outdoor adventures.

An avid outdoorsman, Joe had an enduring love for hunting and the beauty of nature. His passion for baseball was equally strong, and he enjoyed coaching Little League, as well as playing as a pitcher and catcher duo with his son in the over-40 league. These shared experiences on the field were among his most treasured times.

Joseph Thomas Strobel, Sr.'s legacy is one of love, dedication, and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he has left behind. Joe's life story is a testament to the enduring power of a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed.
