Geraldine Johnston Obituary

Geraldine (Jeri) Johnston 78, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2009, in Tucson, AZ after a brief illness. Jeri, as she was known by all, was born in Johnson City, NY to Fedele and Maizie Liberatore on February 23, 1931. She grew up in Johnson City and in 1951, she married William A. Johnston. They lived in NY until 1966, and then transferred with IBM to Vermont. In 1979 they relocated with IBM to Tucson. She is survived by her beloved husband, "Bill"; their children, Christine Brock and her husband Thomas of Milton, VT; William "Bill" Johnston and his wife, Sandy of Tucson, Arizona and Charles Joseph (Joe) Johnston and his wife, Sheryl, of Essex Junction, VT. She will dearly miss her loving grandchildren with whom she had many happy times, Justin Charles Brock, Jennifer Lynn Brock, Kyle Joseph Johnston, Sara Johnston, Brandi Lea Johnston and Kasey Jo Johnston. She also leaves her loving brother, Richard Liberatore of Appalachin, NY and sister, Flora Liberatore of Johnson City, NY. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Dominic, and her sisters Helen, Mary and Sylvia. A Memorial Mass is planned in Tucson, Arizona on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 3201 East Presido Rd, 85716. A Service for family and friends to be held this summer at her favorite place in the world, "Kings Cove" on Lake Champlain in St. Albans, VT. Jeri and her family spent many happy summers there with friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Arrangements entrusted to DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME (297-9007).

I have fond memories of Aunt Jeri and Uncle Bill as we called them growing up as a kid. They were very close to my family and she will be dearly missed. I am sorry for your loss.
