Greg Carlisle

1956 - 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Greg Carlisle who left this life for the next on October 27, 2024 after his two-year battle with cancer. He is deeply mourned by his wife, Susan, sister Cindy Skelton (Doug) and his step children: Wes Powell (Kelly), Kori Powell, Cameron Peyton (Kalee), Stephen Peyton (Sahar), Ashley Young (Jim), and granddaughters, Lyla and Emelia. Greg was born to Lloyd and Janice Carlisle in Elk City, Oklahoma on January 11, 1956. Shortly after, he and his family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where he spent many a happy day exploring the desert while his dad supervised the oil rigs in the field. The family moved to the Dallas area for his high school years and Greg discovered a talent for golf which later made it possible to play for the mini tour while attending UT Arlington. Upon graduation, Greg, armed with a finance degree, entered first into the world of business with Anderson Consulting and later, venture capital and startups. Greg enjoyed a very active life style and thrived on pushing his body to the limit. He participated in many marathons across the country, qualified and participated in the famous Kona Iron Man triathlon twice and multiple other Iron Man competitions, and earned five belt buckles from the 100 mile mountain bike race in Leadville. His true passions in later years were traveling, cycling, and hiking. He loved riding and treasured the many friends he met in riding groups and along the road. He was a connector. He never met a stranger and enjoyed learning about people and connecting those with similar interests. Greg lived and loved in a large way and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a devout Christian and wanted everyone to know that he is with the Lord in heaven. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning, Friday, the 8th of November, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1318 Mapleton Ave., Boulder, CO 80304.
