Herbert White Obituary
After that, he spent twenty years on the faculty of Indiana University, as a professor, dean, and after his retirement the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree. He is listed in "Who's Who in America".
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Jerome, and two adult grandchildren. Services will be private.

I'm very sorry to hear about Dr. White. He was a wonderful teacher. He made us really work for the grade we got, but that meant we were prepared to help people find information in the sciences when we got out into a library. I have often been grateful for how much he taught me, not just the specific sources, but how he taught me to think about finding information. He will be remembered and missed by many people whose lives he touched.

I was sorry to learn of the death of Herb White. I so appreciated his wisdom and wit and I know he impacted and informed so many students with his astute knowledge and brevity of all things library. It was an honor and privilege to have been in one of his classes. I cherish those memories decades later.
