It's hard to put into words my feelings for Coach Crawford. I was a Sophomore when he came to St. David and he coached (guided) me for 3 years. I was working in a gas station/garage in Benson after school and on weekends and sometimes he would come by in the evenings and we would just talk while I changed his oil or rotated his tires on his '57 Chevy. I believe that I learned more from his coaching than I did from any of the classes I took in high school. He was one of the finest men that I ever met, making a big influence on my life that I will not forget as long as I live. After I graduated I was headed in the wrong direction and he cared enough to have a little talk with me and straghten me out for which I will always be grateful. He will be missed.

It is true that Coach Crawford inspired and influenced many students and athletes. He has surely left a coaching legacy in St. David and Southern Arizona, but to me, he was my dad. I feel so blessed that I had Coach by my side both on the field and at home. I will always love and miss him dearly, and will live with the examples and lessons he's left me.

Coach Crawford was a giant of a man. Aside from my own father I believe he has had the most influence on me and inspired me to be the man I am today. Just as my father, if I can be half the man that Coach was, then I can consider myself a success. Coach you will be missed greatly. My condolences to the surviving family. May God bless you and keep you in this difficult time.
