Judge Lawwill and Marie were two of the kindest, wisest and most empathetic individuals I have ever known. I love them today as much I loved them over the years. I wish I could have spent more time with them. And their two sons are cut from the same cloth. God rest their souls in Heaven.

The Tucson ODAR office has suffered a great loss. Judge Lawwill was one of the most kindest and fairest Judges I have appeared before. My condolences to all of the Lawwill family.

Judge Lawwill was one of the most compassionate and caring Judges I knew. My clients always left a hearing believing, rightfully so, that their testimony was taken seriously and a fair decision would be rendered. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Judge Lawwill's passing. I appeared in front of him during his first years in Tucson and will always recall his courtesy, fairness, and even-tempered judicial demeanor. My sympathies to his family.

Judge Lawwill was truly an honorable judge and man. I wanted to share at last year's Regional Management conference we had the opportunity to celebrate his 91st birthday (I Miss Piggy had an opprtunity to deliver his birthday cake and cheer him on!) He was always such a good sport!
He will be greatly missed in the Region. Soft spoken, but always heard.

As a young lawyer straight out of law school. I am honored to say that I had my first SSDI hearing in front of Judge Lawwill. (three years ago) He was always fair and made my job easy. I will truly miss his spunk and personality.

From the time of his arrival in the Tucson OHA office, Judge Lawwill provided a unique combination of fairness, integrity, professionalism, judicial temperament, trust, friendship, generosity of spirit, grace and humor. Judge Lawill, [0178], was one of the first 200 Judges appointed by OHA and one of the longest tenured. He will be remembered as one of the most dedicated and productive Judges in the history of OHA. It was a pleasure working with him as Hearing Office Chief Judge, during my 21 years as Regional Chief Judge.
Under his leadership, Tuscon was always one of the best Hearing Offices in the Region.

I so enjoyed the time I worked with Judge Lawwill as a hearing assistant and am so sad to hear of his passing. He was such a kind and caring man. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

Jim was a great guy as well as a fine judge. He was always willing to travel anywhere in the region to hold hearings. My condolences to Region 9, the Tucson HO, and to Jim's family.

ALJ Lawwill will be greatly missed. I'll pray for the family that was left behind - may the lord comfort them in their loss. I had the pleasure to work with him for many years in the Tucson, Hearings and Appeals Office.

I did not know him really well, but I felt honored that I got to sit next to him and enjoy a meal together while we were in Phoenix. He was always kind to me and I feel very blessed that I knew him. May all of his family and friends find peace at this time of sadness.

Jim will be missed by every ALJ who met him. He had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed meeting people. He was a delightful man and I am glad that I had the privilege of meeting and working with him.
