John McNair Obituary

John Willie McNair was called home to heaven on February 14, 2009. He was born to Noah and Emma McNair, on June 9, 1930. John married Lessie McLean on July 1, 1950 and started a family of four sons. They moved to Tucson, where he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company, and later added three more children to the family. He left Hughes to start his own roofing company and joined Greyhound Bus Line where he was employed for nearly thirty years. John was respected and very active in the community. As President of the Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association, John was awarded the Jefferson Award for community service in 1991. The highest of accolades was when they named a street John McNair Place. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lessie of 56 years. He leaves to cherish his memories seven children, John (Tammi) in Florida, Larry in Green Valley, Arizona, Donald (Roxanne), Anthony (Cheryl), John Jr; and daughters, Shirley and Jackie all of Tucson Arizona. John was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will truly be missed. A Memorial Service will be held at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave, Tucson, AZ on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

To the McNair Family,
It is with great sadness that I read of John's passing. I enjoyed his wonderful friendship for so many years when we both worked at Greyhound Bus Lines, along with our mutual and late friend, Carl Poe.
The fun softball games we played with all our sons, getting together after work, all great memories.
My deepest condolences to the entire McNair Family.
God Bless you,
Tony Cervantez

My sincere sympathy to the family of Mr. McNair, although I only met him a couple of times in the mid 1970's, I remember him well, what a great human being, back then I was friends with John Jr. My love and thoughts are with you in your times of great sorrow.
