Kayla Bernardi Obituary

Kayla Lauren Bernardi 1/31/1995 – 3/8/2015 Born in Tucson, AZ to Joe Bernardi and Cathie Hansen Bernardi. Kayla passed away with family close by her side. Kayla had spent months battling leukemia, and this final battle was more than she was able to overcome. Kayla spent twenty years teaching all of us how to live, love, laugh, and embrace life with more intensity than most of us are capable of. Kayla had many special friends, "sisters", and family that encouraged her as she achieved milestone after milestone. We watched as Kayla learned to read, ride a bike, sing and graduate from high school. Our "Busy Bee" was always active and always had people to see and things to do. Kayla's favorite times were spent with family and friends on the lake, making ravioli, and all the holidays. She was so proud of her brothers and loved to watch them play water polo. She is survived by her parents, Joe and Cathie Hansen Bernardi; brothers, Jared and Dylan; grandparents, Dan and Gloria Hansen and Al Bernardi and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her grandmother, Esther Bernardi; step-grandmother, Joanie Durniat Bernardi; uncle, Tom Bernardi and others that are rejoicing and sharing with Kayla in Heaven now. Cathie & Joe,
I just wanted to let you know that I still think of Kayla and what a beautiful girl she was. She was full of life and was very lucky to have such a wonderful and loving family. It was always a pleasure to take care of her and to see you at the hospital. I wish you all the best.

Kayla was a wonderful young lady who brightened the world around her. With no children of my own I find it impossible to fathom the pain you must be feeling. Faith, Family and Friends. We're all here for you, even from a distance.

You have my deepest sympathy on your immeasurable loss. Life is so short and those we love are gone from our lives too quickly. God's promise to empty the grave in the near future is found at Hosea 13:14. May the God of loyal love comfort you during your time of sorrow.

I didn't know Kayla, nor any of her family. I can't imagine the loss of a child. My two children are around the same age. The tears are rolling down my cheeks just thinking how hearbroken you are. May God give you strenghth at this time of sorrow. My daughter has stopped talking to me over something materialistic. She will be twenty this year. Life is too short and your loved ones can be gone in the blink of an eye

Pure light, joy and strength are key words I use when I describe Kayla. She had a constant smile and fought so hard through everything. She is a beautiful person and left her mark on everyone who she came in contact with. I only wish I'd been able to spend more time with her, but miles kept that from happening, just as they will keep us from being with Joe, Cathie and the boys on Monday. We will be with you in our hearts.

Joey and Cathie you are in our thoughts and prayers. May the wonderful memories you have as a family be comfort in this time. Don't worry I am sure your Mom Joey and my Dad will make ravioli's for her in heaven. Love to your family.

Dear Bernardi Family: We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Kayla's passing. God always chooses the prettiest flowers for His own garden. We know that she is at peace and filled with love. Please know that we are thinking of you at this time and if there's anything we can do to
soften the pain, we are there for you. With Love,
The Mac Ban Family
