Lisa R. Strober

STROBER MD, PhD Lisa R.

psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, died in the early evening on July 13, 2019 in hospice (Peppi's House) in Tucson, Arizona. Her death was caused by pancreatic carcinoma. She was 76 years old.

Lisa received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and attended medical school at Downstate Medical Center (S.U.N.Y, Brooklyn). She did her psychiatric training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Jacobi Hospital, Bronx, New York.

Lisa came to Tucson in the summer of 1974 and taught at the University of Arizona Medical Center for several years before entering more than 30 years of private practice. After many years of additional study (Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute) she became a psychoanalyst. Carrying on the teachings of psychoanalysis was critically important to her. She had long felt that the training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy was being increasingly overshadowed by drug therapy, a trend that was probably not reversible. She chose to deal with what she could effect, her patients and their issues. Lisa's concern for others and the empathy shown to them exemplified her life. She died surrounded by those who loved and respected her. She will be greatly missed.

Lisa leaves behind her brother, Jon Raymon, living in Crompond, NY and her husband of 52 years, Steven, who resides in Tucson.
